I am told an mechanic from a well known London indepentant Porsche dealership has/is setting up a business servicing Porsches on Weleyn Garden City - Herts. Being very local and lazy this would now be my potential closest option if any good. So far I see a very basic website only...

http://www.porschacare.com/

Ant thoughts, views or knowledge of this outfit ?

Never heard of Porshacare, but Porsche owners is Herts certainly have a wealth of options.

Jaz Porsche - St Albans, Herts AL1 1XB

JZM Porsche - Kings Langley, Herts WD4 8JE

RPM Porsche - Long Marston, Herts, HP23 4QR

If he was any good, then this new place might be an option for some.

I cannot recommend Matt @ Porschacare highly enough he is the only reason I now own a 996TT without him I would have no chance of porsche ownership I have known him all my life and can honestly say u won't meet a more trust worthy and knowledgeable guy.
He has looked after all my cars over the years Right the way up to my current Turbo and I also have many friends and colleagues that also would not be part of the Porsche scene with out this guy in there lives.
If you decided to use Porschacare get Matt to show u his lightweight 930 turbo creation that he had featured in 911uk last summer it is simply breathtaking.

How funny that I should stumble across this thread this afternoon. I had Matt @ Porschacare do some work on my 2007 GT3 this morning, and must say I'm very happy with the service and quality of his work. I got to know him when he was with Portiacraft previously, and he's also worked on my car a few times since he left them. He's been a huge help in getting bits and bobs sorted on my car, from fitting my Recaro PP's to stripping the entire dash and console for my full alcantara retrim (as well as the usual oil changes, belt changes etc etc general maintenance). I can't recommend him highly enough, also I've got to say he must be one of the nicest guys you could ever hope to meet in Porsche circles, 10/10

A good friend of mine uses Matt and highly recommends him. Seen his narrow bodied turbo at the ACE. Very nice

I was recommended to contact Matt from a friend of mine when I was having problems with my 997 gen 2, that had a rough idle. I spoke to the nearer dealers in the St Albans/Herts area and they all wanted to "book it in and we will do a full diagnostics and that will only cost you £xxx...then we can go from there...". After speaking to Matt (and he well and truly knows what he is doing with Porsches - you can tell when you speak to someone!) he verbally diagnosed a VVT valve but was fully prepared for me to bring it in to run up on the diagnostics but his thought was the VVT valve. £98 part from Porsche, 4 hrs for me to get to it due to the usual crap rusted nuts&bolts that Porsche use (and then replace with stainless ones) the job was all done.
Matt could quite easily of requested that I bring it in and do the work himself but as he spent nearly 30 mins talking through the fault and everything else about my car, I feel it is worth telling you all about him...put it this way, any work that needs doing on my 997 will get done by Matt in the future and he also recommended a good paintshop in Stevenage for some detailing I want done in the future.
GREAT GUY AND HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - he will also be doing some work on my wifes mini cooper s as that has a timing issue and after just speaking about it, he obviously knows his stuff on minis as well!
Very unusual in this day and age; a genuine guy that obviously has a real passion for Porsches and cars generally.
From my friends feedback and my experience - YES, Porschacare (Matt) is a genuine mechanic you can trust and I wish him well in his new business as he deserves it!

I first met Matt whilst he was a mechanic at another North London specialist and was impressed with his knowledge and enthusiasm for all things Porsche. Now that he has set up on his own I've already visited him twice and will for all future work including modifications. His attention to detail is second to none and some of the cars he has worked on/built look amazing, (not to mention his own built 930 3.3 600hp turbo bow ) Should my own engine need a rebuild at some point, (I have a 997 3.8 so it's likely rolleyes ), I already have plans for Matt to build me something special..... He is also exceptionally well priced. So I also highly recommend Porschacare thumbup (Just don't make him so busy I can't get my car booked in when I want to wink ).
