If Harris and Sabine are onboard I may just have to watch, but I'll be peeking through clenched fingers whenever that ginger plonker's on. No offense. :-O
Agreed!!

Harris - Genuine, knowledgable and most watchable car guy on the internet!
Schmitz - Ticks the BBCs diversity box, whilst also being intelligent, humorous and very much able to peddle a car!
Evans - Egotistical, unentertaining, annoying, self-absorbed tt!

The Stateside TG franchise has been well worth a watch for a while now....they use a formula consisting almost exclusively of 'Challenges', hardly ever bothering with the straight car review segment. Its entertaining largely in the same way to old TG in that you watch it for the rapport and larking about they get up to. It'll take new TG a while to get to that level, even if they choose to go that route, but i suspect we will see more journalistic review style with 'tests' returning, which is no bad thing.

I must say I agree with the above post re Harris - so pleased he's being given a chance at the Big Time, just recogntion for all his fine works imo. thumbup

TG was stale and ready for an update - all that crashing cars was just pointless and childish.

New presenters should have been in my opinion:

Chris Evans
Guy Martin
Jodie Kidd (if she didn't want/signed to do another Classic Car Show - which was a good show) - others have disagreed earlier (each to their own)
Jason Plato

I almost re-subscribed to EVO when Chris Harris left! His article on a Koenigsegg did it for me, where the story was that it was not exiting and he couldn't be bothered to drive it, a car most people will not see let alone own or drive. He can't be bothered to drive it then I can't be bothered to buy/read his articles.

Other than Chris Evens if those mentioned are true, not impressed.

Chris Harris - see above
Sabine Schmitz - no doubt she can drive, but does seem lacking in TV presence / personality
David Coulthard - - no doubt he can drive, but does seem lacking in personality

Line up leave me cold and unimpressed, hope I am wrong because TV needs a decent car programme.

Personally I'm looking forward to the new program, and hope it will return to its routes, talking about cars and cars that are affordable to most.

I think Chris Harris will be fantastic. Hes done a proper apprentiship.

I will never forget THAT article on Ferrari. They banned him from Maranello for about 5 years didn't they?

I knew Chris Harris would make it on to terrestrial TV - he's the first real talent ( in that he can drive, is knowledgable and has charisma and on-screen presence) to come through in years - well done Chris!

So with Harris and Coulthard being pretty decent drivers, is there any room for the 'Stig' ??
In fact with Sabine as well come to think of it.

Probably not in the talent stakes, but "the Stig" must make the bbc a few quid on merchandise alone.

I'm all for the new line up, hopefully be more about fast cars than a few blokes mucking about.

I'm shocked at this line-up, I thought channel 5 motoring expert Tim Lovejoy would have had this in the bag.

Fair play to Harris, he's worked hard to get noticed online over the last few years and he could bring some real credibility to the reviews on TG.

I'm chuffed for Harris- he's good at his job and deserves a go at the top gig.
Just hope Chris Evans does not ruin the show- his TFI program is just awful-because of
his completely excruciating style of presenting.

Thank god I'm not the only one with similar thoughts then. For me:

Harris - car nut and talented, yes, but also find him a bit up himself and is it surprising with the amount of brown nosing he gets off this forum?

Sabine - again, not knocking the car talent, but doesn't make her a presenter. On 5th gear she struck me as someone trying too hard to be funny. Would like her more of she just focuses what she was good at

Coulthard - seems a gent and like him on F1 (much more so than EJ) but not sure he'd work on a programme like this.

Evans I am fine with (!). Do find it odd when people knock him for not being original etc when so much of the TG style is similar to his shoes of 20 years ago. In fact, weren't some of his production team responsible for the Clarkson TG format?

TBH, I'm just pleased that the bigoted, egotistical, cock shiner with rotten teeth was fked off by the BBC.

That, along with Hammond who had his tongue firmly pressed against JC's starfish whilst tickling his balls, left the other scruff May who I could bear to watch albeit through screen distorting 3D glasses.

A make-over and refresh has got to be a good thing with or without Carrot Top, let's hope the Beeb make it worthwhile.

Chris Harris is a superb motoring Journo, and really doesn't seem to fit within Top Gear's comedy branding, neither does Sabine! So will Chris now be reviewing boring estate cars towing caravans a high speed before blowing them up with tanks etc etc, rather than his superb, highly watchable youtube vids of various exotic cars....Top Gear was always crap and a bit of a joke really, why not start a fresh show with Harris and Schmitz and another presenter, that's about cars and decent reviews, without all the bks from Top Gear....so will 'Chris Harris On Cars' be no more after this....frown

Interesting decision by the BBC. Top Gear is an entertainment show based loosely around cars; and Chris (Harris) and Sabine are all about the cars, the speed, the love of motors. You can understand Chris Evans, he's a lover of cars with a deep knowledge of "entertainment" (love him or hate him, he's done very well for himself). Got to question the direction this will head in, but looking forward to it.

Surely Chris wouldn't sell himself out for a large salary to blow up caravans every week?!?!
