IDLE SPEED WONT GO DOWN ON MY 944S
Discussion
Hi, can anyone help with a problem I have with my 1987 Porsche 944S 16V. The idle speed will not go any lower than 1200RPM now. I have taken other peoples advice and the problem has resolved a bit but not fully.
I have changed the o'rings on the injectors, changed the inlet manifold gasket, and checked all the air pipes, I found one air pipe off on the end of the fuel rail, so i put it back and the RPM dropped from 1200RPM to 1200RPM. I just need to sort it out once and for all, PLEASE CAN SOMEONE HELP AND GIVE ME SOME ADVISE. MANY THANKS........................

Chck the wiring to the power steering pump switch first, this has a feature to increase idle speed when the pump is under load by activating the switch. Could be the wiring damaged, so check this out as well.
There is also a common problem of casting plugs coming loose under the manifold, but this is unlikely to be the case here as the idle is too low.
Failing this also check for cracks in the oil breather pipes or filler neck.

Thanks for all the feed back, the idle adjusting screw is fully removed. I will take a look at the power steering pump wiring, as it has had a new adjuster fitted to it a couple of months ago. IF ANYONE CAN THINK OF ANYTHING ELSE IT MAT BE PLEASE LEAVE DETAILS. MANY THANKS............
