May expand when I get it back to my satisfaction - however I was told there is only 1 in London

Did that Solus place near Slough lose its accreditation?

What's being repaired on your car for it to take this long...Christ you must be chomping at the bit.

If it's any comfort I have extreme OCD when it comes to car paint my Guards Red Cayman had a little bit of paint touched up on the front a while back I was paranoid about the red not matching but the shop did an outstanding job it was perfect...was it a Porsche body shop...no, the local VW dealer painted it they are very very good.

Just a heads up re: parts supply - condensors have been on backorder for a week or so so maybe that isn't helping.

They'll do you a good job - my brother is the Paintshop Manager and knows the cars inside out.

to make you feel better moose, here is my recent history

car is hit whilst parked, scuffed and dented front bumper, annoying as the offender did a runner, on the plus side the bumper needed a refresh/respray and the painted lower lip had scraped a few too many speed bumps

I insist on an official Porsche service centre, unfortunately the only one in London is apparently in Highgate (I am in SW London)

Attempt 1 - car returned looks ok but within a few days and one car wash the paint peels off in large sections from the front lip

Attempt 2 - front lip resprayed, maybe they remembered to prep and prime it properly this time, as a bonus they dented the brand new front spoiler they fitted - dead centre, impossible to miss in any light, I pointed out to the delivery driver in seconds

Attempt 3 - car not returned when agreed so I had no car for the BH weekend I returned from holiday, the bonus this time was the left the car with zero petrol (as in range was zero miles) and through the post I got a £65 penalty charge notice for pausing in a box junction, yes it was their driver during attempt 2

Have you had a meeting with them face to face? Your written word can sometimes come across the wrong way? Try and be polite...it goes a long way when dealing with humans.

Obvious I know but will need the consent of your insurers to do that - they will have contracted the work and may not want a fight about the parts already ordered. Good luck - I hope you get it sorted soon.

I am sure once you've had a face to face meeting, things will get resolved. I completely understand your frustration (back in 2008, my 987 Boxster took 3 months to repair), but personally wouldn't want to take a half repaired car away from one place and give to another - think that could be 'cutting your nose off to spite your face'.

Good luck mate and keep us informed.

I agree on that, Cmoose.

I would be thinking exactly the same as you in this situation. I get really annoyed at the idea that I should just tolerate incompetence, but it's often the least bad option to do so and just swear quietly to yourself.

Whatever you do, wear a suit.

Sounds like your experience certainly isn't sounding very positive, didn't sound like the damage to your car was that great.?
Had a friend with a component failure in a GT car little while ago and a rather big off and spray master did that car and he rated them and said they were very good. Sounds like a lot of mixed stories..
I was thinking of taking my car there for a couple of little cosmetic jobs but now I'm not so sure after reading this thread especially with the amount they want for something of nothing as such. Decisions...
Hope you get yours back and it was worth the wait, did notice a grey Cayman at spray master today whilst driving past, looked finished???.,
Let us know how the job is please...

Result. Looks good!

Are the wheels out for refurb? Oh, actually, I think I can just about see them somewhere under those wheel arches. The black dots, right?

Thanks!

Excellent colour, isn't it, that red? Looks orange in some light and quite a deep red in others.

Yes, I remember when I bought my brand new 987.2 Cayman in Guards......I had a week of dull weather....I was convinced the car was the wrong colour as it looked orange!!

That's AC condensation; the drain is above the tray join and will drip out once the system has been running a while.

Open the bonnet, remove the battery cover and the left and right covers and run the car, the AC pipes will condensate - the resulting fluid has to drain away........

When fully up to temp the radiators will be hot; there should be around a twenty/thirty degree range across a rad in operation. Bear in mind you can't feel the rads apart from the lower 30mm or so, the AC Condensors are in front of them on either side.....

I noticed this on holiday in France a couple of years back after going over a horrible bump in the road. I thought I had somehow spilt a coolant pipe until I stuck my finger in the stuff, sniffed it and said 'Hold on! This is water!' and told my wife we didn't really need to have the car picked up and a ruined holiday smile

Worth noting though that the AC unit was, slowly, on its way out. I got it replaced just before selling the Cayman. If you find a small leak (I think that volume looks a bit high for just condensation, but I may be wrong) an OPC may well say it's fine. Funny how nobody cared about the leak in my car until I was asking them to buy it from me...
