Don't forget the White R8 that was sold to a member on PH, that turned into a nightmare thread too.

I'm the king of the 993 fanboys but 83k for a cooking 993 is taking the piss.
So many lovely cars out there for a good bit less money than this.

I love air cooled more than most but there's no way a LHD Japanese import is £83K, not to me, ever. I'd rather have eight 996's

GT2 RS at Dick Lovett for sale @395k, no sign of the bubble bursting! IMHO ridiculous money for a non clubsport car or any spec for that matter

Agree - I'm a fan of really nice 993s and that mileage is a bit special.

But a LHD import is really going to appeal to the continental buyers, and that market remains distinctly wobbly.

Recently found out finance is available on interest only on some of these cars. defo makes some of these higher end cars way more affordable. Especially if you have a nice property portfolio and your tenants rent is paying for it!

So where would that be pricewise if it had been used with 70 or 80k on the clock?

Not sure how it can when almost every component on the car is near 20 years old confused every solenoid, bush, motor, gasket, seal, bearing etc. etc. A new car experience it won't be.

I'd see the value in buying a brand new air cooled 911 too but so far the only thing close to that is a singer, and they're slightly more expensive smile

Or you could build your own;

There is very little on this car that isn't new. If you include the price of the car, bought before prices went silly, it's cost me about £50k to rebuild doing a lot of the work myself, but it's worth every penny. I have specced every part to my own liking too. It's an analogue, air-cooled 911 turned up to 11 in every respect, without losing the essence of what the car was.

Would I get £50k back for it if I were to sell? Very doubtful, however, if I'd bought a 2 year old C2S I'd have lost £20k in 3 years anyway. If I'd bought a low miles, immaculate 3.2 I'd be scared to drive it knowing every mile is knocking a couple of quid off the value.

Yes, if outright figures on performance are your only metric then a new car is far superior. If you want somewhere cast iron to park £50k then get a 40k mile 3.2 and polish it until you can see your worry lines in the reflection. I know which I'd rather own though and as the "value" of my car is not anchored to the fact it has low mileage and original paint I can drive it as far as I like and not worry about stone chips.

Wouldn t buy a second hand pram off them.....be interesting knowing how they got hold of the 918 outside the network. Wonder if theres a story behind this one too.

Infamous for trying to sell a certain black dog reshelled GT3 numerous times over which had been returned on several occasions by a number of unsuspecting punters.
And the 997 GT2 press car, with one careful owner!
...And the Black/Orange 997 RS a mate nearly bought that they told him was a UK C16, that was actually from Hong Kong. Might have been a clean car but lies like that put you off.

Kudos. The value of a car is in the memories it provides.

No, I've had it a couple of years...also have a 1990 2CV in Blue Celeste with 12k miles! I do like small runabout French/Italian cars. My daily commute is in a Red 1990 Renault 5 with 16k miles!

Not exactly archetypal "powerful director" motors. hehe

I can see the appeal though and if it weren't for more than half of my commute being on high deer risk roads (you don't want to see what a deer can do to a small vehicle) I'd love one of the little Fiat/Citroen vans. As it is, I get my utilitatrian fix with a slightly bigger van - perfect for work and for play (dogs & mountain bikes).
