£208k for the 4.0 rs lhd with 28k on the clock. Nice buy for someone who is happy to use it as its meant to be.

The 512 also looked a good buy at £208k, I would imagine a dealer would be asking £300k plus for a car with that mileage.

IMO this shows if cars are priced right people are willing to buy
Those were the two cars that stuck out as reasonably good value. Although by now plenty of 4.0 RS available at 300k euros

From a motoring history perspective its an important car. They even put a woman in the rally version to show the cars superior ability with 4wd. Great buy for many reasons. You could put 1500 miles on her every year without effecting the value. Give it the beans on a wet slippy typical UK road and you won't stop smiling. Very expensive but worth it IMO.

I agree. Late 20V Quattros are very rare especially with such low mileage.

Michelle Mouton was quick in plenty of rwd machinery. I am sure Audi did want the publicity of signing a female driver, but she was one result from being world champion and beat Rohrl and my own hero Vatanen quite often.

I think her run up Pike's Peak when it was gravel road was one of the best drives of all time regardless of gender.

She was a very accomplished driver. There on merit.

By my (poor) calculations, Silverstone's make over 30k on that 4.0 RS alone!!

Yep, the buyer pays 12.5% and the seller 5% so auction house get over 36k on 208k hammer price. A UK buyer also pays VAT on the premium.

SOR is cheap in comparison!

Plus, the cheeky buggers make the seller pay a £250 registration fee!

Its a Japanese (non EU) import with high mileage and a non-OEM nav/radio unit so I am not so sure if that is a really great example. But if you want to drive it nothing wrong with that. I just can't understand why sellers go to auctions with these things. The market is soft and you are completely out of control of your own destiny unless you set a high reserve and then you most certainly have a "no sale". There are too many auctions and the stock keeps getting more and more "average"

Except as vendor you only pay 5% or £10k, which is the commission I'd expect to pay SOR on a car of this value.

Sure, but the buyer will bid less for your car by the amount of the fee he has to pay. In other words, the seller ends up paying/losing/knocking off the entire buyer/seller/other/ fees off the hammer price.

Very solid, £70k for a T ...says it all. If it's gone to auction, then thats a last resort IMV. More than likely been offered anywhere and everywhere. Never understood why people buy from the likes of Silverstone.
