Coincidentally, I'm one rung down the ladder from you on both counts; currently in a 996tt and pondering an upgrade to a 997 GT3...

No.

Question is how will it affect previous GT models? It's anyone's guess really, but how many people who actually wanted a 991 GT3 settled on a earlier iteration because it was cheaper/available?

And that!

Price drop - sure that was £105k last week.

ETA, slightly O/T but given the reputation of both sellers, would people still suggest an independent PPI?

I wouldn't personally with JZM and obviously not with Porsche as you'd hope they know what they're doing!
Plus you have the warranty with them.

JZM are very honest in my experience and view.

Decent spec too......although no buckets - that has to account for at least £10k

Are these on the up?

I think you will be surprised just how few will spec the 991.2 GT3 as manual.
It may appeal to the microcosm that is PH, but in reality, the PDK box will appeal to broader market and return more come the day you decide to sell.
The car simply doesn't suit a manual box in my view. I had a 991 GT3, and it was so accomplished around a track that you didn't miss it. Also too big for the road, so manual a mute point IMV.

If you want a stick shift, go GT4. Smaller and suits the ethos of a manual car far better IMO. Better still, go 997.

I think the new GT3 will be sought after as a manual.

The GT4 was the car everyone wanted - a Cayman with a 911 engine, manual gearbox, fine tuned and breathed on by the GT division, and it was greeted with stunning reviews.

Same with the 911R. An 'analogue' response to the enthusiasts who lambasted the PDK only 991 GT3, also fabulously received and a precursor, we believe, to the forthcoming GT3.2.

The GT4 is the size a 911 should be and suits stick, though gearing an issue.

The R was extremely limited and a guaranteed £300k tax free to those 'enthusiasts' who secured one.

The reality is, track times matter to the mob. The RS murders the R on track. Then you have the Americans. Enough said,

,
Although the 991 GT3 has a greater rump, it and the GT4 are identical widths mirror to mirror at 1978mm.

The GT4 feels smaller, almost go cart like compared to the GT3, not least due to its smaller cabin.

Doubtful whether the 991.2 GT3 PDK S will command a premium over the 'manuel' imo. Whilst the PDK S is a fantastic gearbox and betters even the 458 F1imo, also suiting the 991 GT3 very well and PDK generally has aged gracefully, time has shown again and again these gearboxes will inevitably date quicker than the 'beards' option.

I think maybe the bigger picture is with the introduction of driverless cars.

'Peak Auto' (sales) is the new industry catchphrase. Millennials aren't buying cars anymore, Uber/Lyft are helping to kill that off. Add to that driverless, meaning even less people need to own cars and perhaps dangerous, dirty fuel, self driven cars will eventually be banned.

Then were does the market go? GT3s only allowed on track? This is all happening a lot faster than we think. Ford is targeting fully autonomous ride sharing cars for 2021. GM is introducing driverless cars for the Lyft service. The you have TESLA who'll convert their new stock to driverless with software updates.

Number of new driving licence applications in the last three years, according to DVLA

2012: 9,703,236
2013: 9,883,749
2014: 9,441,993

- On a different note, I think the location also has an affect. I know many youngsters have nothing to do with driving in London, but loads of them who live outside London starts driving pretty early actually.

The only Porsches I drive are RS/RSR ( 64 , 93 and GT3 ) and GT2 R models but if I get a GT3 road car allocation it will be manual ........ I will be getting my Tesla X soon for the daily stuff so the Ferrari can relax as well ..... traffic seems to have exploded in London so for a big smoke lad the usual cars are not important .. as for a bubble ????

Of course, it can even dramatically change over a year. We've seen that with smartphones in less than 3 years, loads of traditional habits changed immediately. I'd love to see more driverless cars, I think it's a bit still far though not the technology/software but the infrastructure. (Or I'm still bitter that our VW satnav tricked us twice last friday coming from Brighton to London, and took like 10 miles more than the usual trip due to diversions hehe)
