Are you saying aircooled porsches are not exceptional. yikes With talk like that you will drive the prices down. rofl
smile But seriously I don't think most air cooled 911s are exceptional. And I speak as someone who has been lucky enough to own most, including a 2.2s. Great cars, but struggle to see how ordinary examples of later ones warrant prices being paid. But perhaps I should stick to what I know wink

I don't think anything special happened then. Early 911S prices started to rise in 2010 and Hagerty (an insurance company) likely didn't react to the trend until September 2012.

This green line is closer to the truth IMO (yes shoddy photoshop tongue out) :

Great fun feed, that Sotheby's thing.

Comments better than the auction, mind.

Prices definitely seem......restrained.

Seasonal price adjustments?
Who knows yet.
IMO this " bubble " likely only applies to some overpriced cars not the market as a whole.

A slowing down/rationalisation is not a burst.

They're still going to be worth more than i can afford!

Btw that's my 964 c2 that originally shocked folk in the thread.

If you add buyers premium of what, 15%? It doesn't look so bad, even for the Porsches. The Ferraris are selling within estimate, albeit towards the low end.

Not my definition of a bubble bursting but who knows....

The reserves (from what I understand) are based on pre-buyers premium though, so most were under their targets and hence many of them didn't sell, including the 911 Turbo. Compared to previous positive auctions, there didn't appear to be many bidders, just a handful.

I know for certain if I had that kind of cash hanging around that the F40 seemed to sell very cheap at ~£700k.
