Problem is there's basket cases with millennium mileage advertised at 30k+ that aren't even worth 20k IMO better off with a 2.9 Cayman

Theres nothing wrong with a 2.9 Cayman, lovely car, but its hardly a replacement. Its totally different.

If you want an air cooled 911, you will need to buy...... an air cooled 911!

If you are happy buying a Cayman, you didnt really want an air cooled 911!

When I say air cooled 911, I am referring to the models I want, not the tip cabs....

But not everyone likes what I like!

Can we just say the bubble has burst and end this thread ?
Totally agree wish I'd never started the post to be honest.
All a bit boring now.

Anybody made the most of the weather this weekend and been for a blast?

Ed no doubt you started it for the right reasons but for some it's an excuse to 'big up' the value of their cars.
Like you I've little interest in losing cash BUT my priority is actually driving and having experience from an ownership standpoint.
I've become so bored of 'what's it worth' .

Anyhow rant over

Just as an extra data point: I've recently been trying to part-ex my beloved 964. One specialist car dealer (not exclusively Porsche) offered me £20K, a well known Porsche specialist offered £25. If I had been selling privately then the hope was for £30K. My aspiration for trade-in had been £28K. I thought I was being realistic but it sounds like either I wasn't, or the market has moved.

On the plus side, I still own my 964 :-)

Many dealers take you for a ride, then drive up prices and values of the car.

Selling private and buying always worked for me.

The Porsche dealers I came across, very rude as well put the phone down without a bye or thank you.

On a car like that a dealer will want to clear 5K to cover his efforts. Maybe smaller non Porsche Specialist Dealers will work on a lot less but they won't take a chance on buying in your car.

You should see what I've been offered in the last few weeks for my 997.1 GT3 compared to the asking prices on ads hehe Some won't even buy outright and will only do SOR

Interesting. Again, it seems the reality is somewhat different. Cheers, Neil
