This is beginning to annoy me. Much as basking in the warm glow of an appreciating asset is a pleasure, if were I to have to replace my 993 through write off, I would probably looking at twice the price I paid for it 11 years ago to replace it from a dealer for one of comparable quality. Rather takes the gloss off going for a hoon.
Honestly, you are looking at this the totally wrong way. There are NO downsides to current owners.

Just forget about it and enjoy. You will be better off no matter what happens.
Absolutely, you don't want to end up a garage queen. What's the point of ownership if not to drive.

Just had a weekend hoon, 400 miles with 14 other Porsches having a blast, just what they were built for.

Small unit manufacture-such as RS's -will stay firm..
Large unit batches such as standard GT3's will fall
Always pay extra for an RS !!
Even GT3 Mk 1's are falling back fast !!!!!

Always a softening of GT3 prices at this time of the year. As above, all GT3's are relatively very rare cars.

Surely with Romans having an RS up for sale at 'just' £180k, that will harm the rest of the market?

Yes Yellow the only place that GT3 and GT3 RS are rare is at track days !!!! Agreed only been to two days ( and not many for years ) this year and besides Cup cars there was only 1 GT3 on track ( going very sedately ) ....

Track days Hunter? Are you terrifying the locals in your Fezza or did you attend something closer to a test day in pace/rules? I did a couple of few last year, back after a break of many of many years, but found that I was either annoying the normal attendee or annoying myself. Perhaps if I did it in a slower car that would help.

Steve - how are you getting on with your 7.1 GT3? I read with interest of your plans when you bought it roughly a year back. I was toying with a similar purchase, but then this year's bubble got larger so I I sat on my hands. The need to get back into a Porsche is strong though and a bit of price softening is just what I need to tip me over the edge!

It takes a brave and committed man to tweak from standard. I remember seeing a black/orange 7.1RS this time last year that was massively tweaked and for sale at c90k and took a long time to shift. I think it was back at JZM a couple of months ago for c150 and moved fast this time. The change you mentioned away from PASM to some quality passive kit sounded very interesting.

Haha , yes Jimmy funny going back to a track day after about ten years ( besides a trip to Portaimoa and Estoril with the GT2 R ) , one in the Fez GT3 and one in a Radical SR3 ( passenger rides , both Goldtrack which was great ) which was a laugh ...... so much in fact thinking of buying one ...
Time restricted racing this year sadly....

Maybe they'd still be going if they had employed this useful trick!

This theme will probably extend to anything with an 'M' engine which them encompasses 996 and some 997 Turbo's.
Even ratty M-engined examples will still retain a degree of value for engine spares.

That's my excuse for using mine anyway. wink
