I'm even debating scrapping PCM now because of how good your own phone is for sat nav purposes these days. However, I am concerned about resale value. What is the difference between the standard audio set up and CDR+ ?

Same here. Better putting the £500 odd extra climate cost to more worthwhile options.
Carbon interior and sills?
Carbon centre console?

I guess it depends on your priorities Mr Judgmental..! wink

Not actually speccing the carbon sills now.

Each to their own of course but imo the aluminium trim looks st as per the GT3 similar the anthracite so carbon is the only alternative....thumbup

I don't get why so many folk have gone for the heavier 64 litre tank....surely with this being GT car, and the for the sake of a measly 2 gallons, it would make sense to stick with the lighter GT4 tank....

Because one of the dullest things about track days is having to leave the circuit to buy fuel. Or because you might want to go on a road trip occasionally (shock) and want to maximise the distance between fuel stops. Because there are many easier ways to save weight. Because minimising weight is not the objective of many folks ordering these cars.

I use Waze and am ordering a spyder with no PCM. I specced the car for me, but ultimately I can't see an issue with resale as this is already a low volume car. There might be more of a case for speccing PCM on the normal cars, but I think it's salesman talk on a GT4.

Are you upgrading the audio at all or just leaving as standard?

I really wanted the digital radio which requires PCM - I must admit I do like my electronic toys so there's a few more quid on Porsches profit line for the year.

I don't think in terms of resale folks will worry too much about PCM but will depend on the overall flavour of the spec. Think no PCM more of an issue if you've gone for a comfort spec whereas (much) less of an issue if you've gone for club sport.

According to website, Standard has four speaks and a 2x25 watt amplifier. Sound Package Plus has nine speakers and 235 watts. CDR+ has seven speakers and 185 watts. CDR+ is supposed to include SPS so not sure why the difference. The configurator lets you spec SPS with the standard CDR which, if that's right, seems good value at £400.

The standard stereo is dreadful and if you like your tunes is a non-starter IMHO.

I'm going for CD-R plus/SP+ with Bose (annoying as you pay twice in effect as Bose obviously deletes sound package plus) which comes with DAB (unlike PCM where you have to add it!).

Yes, I agree a comfort spec with PCM makes sense.

I'd rather an otherwise well optioned car than a lightly optioned car with PCM.

Sounds like a good plan. Of course - with the Spyder you have many more options in the audio/ comms department (including a TV I see from the configurator!!), I'd forgotten that. No Bose for the GT4. The Spyder is a bit of a dark horse on here. Will be much the rarer of the two cars and I have a feeling might even be the better of the two on the road. When do you get it?

My apologies - I didn't realise the options were different for the spyder in terms of audio. I see what you mean about the sound options then - I suppose it's CDR+/SPP or nothing then if avoiding PCM...

My build is October and despite all the delays reported for the seats (I'm going for the normal buckets though) I was told I may have the car end of October/early Nov. Let's see! When is your GT4 build?

Excellent - getting close smile

I have a November build slot. Have paint to sample though so not sure if that will delay delivery - they say it can by up to 12 weeks but I confirmed my spec in July so hopefully that gives them time to organise it. Not been suffering with the seat problem (I see from the other thread there are more issues reported today) - going with adaptive sports seats for various reasons - my back struggles with the buckets and my kids (4 and 2) will be heart broken if they can't go out with me in the car.

My car will primarily be used for track days, evening blasts, general days out and European trips.

One of the reasons I decided to go for the PCM was that I found the display next to the speedo really helpful. Using your phone and running cables etc for power is just a pain and the display isn't quite big enough or in the right place but at the cost I think it is marginal choice. I don't think it will affect residuals significantly.

I used to love the adaptive sports seats on my 987. There will be people who want them come resale as well and they'll be strangely pretty rare!

I'm guards red, so no wait on the paint front at least since it's been knocking around since the 70s biggrin

Visually pretty much this spec (please excuse the spyder on a GT4 thread, but I think the spyder is the GT4's Al Fresco little brother):

That Spyder looks mega smile lovely choice. I'd say Spyder is GT4's non-identical twin rather than little brother - definitely a case of equals but not equivalents IMHO and you're very welcome on this thread as far as I'm concerned. The GT4 folks seem to be chattier than the Sypder folks for some reason.

Thanks for your positive thoughts on the adaptive seats. I loved them on my 997 and needs must so good to hear you agree. As you say it looks like comfort spec GT4s will be quite rare so hopefully it won't hurt its value. I'll still be taking mine out on track as often as I can anyway smile

Nearly driven 2,000 miles in my car and love it. Advice to prospective owners do not consider delete aircon option. I have standard system in my car which is simple and very effective. The car generates quite alot of heat so I have found that when I return to to the car after half an hours driving to stop say for lunch the cabin is very warm but a quick blast of max aircon is all that is needed.

How often does Porsche update the sat nav software/maps on the PCM?

I really like the convinience of it all being integrated with the route mapping in the speedo as well is appealing. I'll be doing a lot of road trips to places I've certainly not been before including Central Europe and Italy.

But will an iPhone + a decent cradle do the same job? Guess so....

I have a TomTom Trucking satnav with Live --- and update it at least once a week.

Is this really where Porsche want to be ??

And the window is a much more convenient place for a road-map .... smile

For the last few years I've used Waze on the continent. You're not at the mercy of expensive map updates either then from Porsche.

The Kenu mount is perfect for the iPhone. You can find them on Amazon. I've been through a few mounts, and that's the one.
