Hi all

I received an invite / application form from the Porsche Centre in Sutton Coldfield about a five day trip to Le Mans.

Drive in convoy to get the chunnel, stop in hotel on other side for one night, following morning drive to Le Mans, book in at camp site, pit access on the Friday, watch race & return on Monday. Cost is £580.00 per person. Anyone else had this?

Think I'd be a little out of place, what in my 1985 924 mixing it with Carrera GT2'S etc.

They'd better be decent hotels for that price.

Only stay in the hotel one night, other nights are camping. I don't think you have to take your own tent though!

The £580.00 covers all costs apart from food & drinks at the circuit. Camping, chunnel crossing & circuit entry is included. Of course, you have to supply your own fuel as well.

How many people is that for?

You might wish to check out the Le Mans forum herewith for more economical versions of the trip...

FWIW, I can offer return Eurotunnel (or ferry) and a routebook with directions and itinerary of what is on etc. for a good rate. I'd be delighted to help if of interest. PM me for details.

How inflation takes over!!
In 1985 I did a Le Mans trip on Concorde including Mach 2 over Irish Sea, Centre stand ticket, one night good hotel and return on Concorde again. £550 with Goodwood Travel; Unbelievable time

There are so many ripoffs involving Le Mans.

A weekend race ticket is normally £40, a week long onsite camping pass is the same and the only other cost is your choice of ferry. The most expensive is generally the Fastcat from Poole - Cherbourg at £280 for car plus two, so I make that a total of circa £220 each. Admittedly you have to order your tickets almost as soon as the previous years race has finished.

Alternatively www.continentalcartours.co.uk/ do a fully inclusive Dover-Calais five day trip including hotel in Rouen on the way down and back for £209

Shut it

I've just dropped off a 924S, an excellent car and surprised me with its rapidity. I had it as a courtesy car while mine was having its callipers refurbed

From your replies so far it seems that this is the "rip off" I thought it was.

I have no chance of going anyway, whatever route or package deal due to work commitments, but just wondered if anyone else on here had had this invite.

The Concorde trip in 1985, now that sounded like a great deal! Wonder how much it would cost today if she was still flying?
