Using a 'car agent 'to buy a good Boxster S

Hi all.......
Has anyone out there bought a car through an agent? I seem to rememner reading about a guy who would use his knowledge and contacts to buy a really good exact-spec condition car for you (he also did TVR et al) and charged a fee for doing so...
Does this ring any bells? Or have I lost my marbles finally????

in case anyone else is interested.... it looks like he does specialise in TVR but will do other makes as well..
