Chris Harris did the Ring 24 in a stock 997 GT3 RS didn't he? It went to the end with no problems.

Also drove it from the UK to the ring and home again, if I remember correctly!
Not quite the same, please explain.

I was at the race and spoke with Chris afterwards...the car was flawless. I asked Porsche to hold the car till the next morning so I could photograph it with my own RS, which they did, I followed it out afterwards and saw it being driven back to the factory...

There were better: Tracking it and having Sabine drive it....a good weeksmile. It was a good car, though I kept the 7.1 and sold it to make space for the 991RS which I am picking up next week.

Sidicks, few stock cars can endure the N24. Virtually every car can get to the Ring & back. Have you been to the "Ring?

I think you are being harsh on sidicks here - my read is that his comment about CH driving it there and back, and racing it was complimentary...

Boxsters don't catch fire, Caymans don't, Cayennes, Panameras, non GT3 911's don't. So what is the vulnerable point?

High revs?
Caymans don't catch fire but mine suffered the scored cylinder liners resulting in a £9K rebuild.

Not the same time, but OK. The race car went to Stuttgart, and I believe came from there.

Indeed - that was the point, it was basically a standard road car driven to and from the ring as well as raced round it.

Unfortunately Mermaid appears to be so desperate to disagree with everything I write, he often doesn't bother to read my comments first. It's becoming very dull.

More common than you might think, would keep well away unless had a great warranty and not a Porsche one!
