There are two cameras, one inside the car and the external camera. The truck is in position as he pulls out and drives off to the left. He then turns around and the external camera, still at the same location, follows the unfolding accident. So I'm sure he knew the truck was there. What I think happened was that he was accelerating with the intention of crossing over to the left lane to pass to pass the truck and what completely surprised him was the oncoming traffic that emerged into his view when it was too late. The Mercedes was probably only passing the truck at the point where he crosses the centre line. At which point he's going to fast and the car is beyond his control. I don't think the trucks position was the surprise element at all.samoht said:
"Hello Walter? Ferdi here. Er, we need you to fly out to California as soon as possible"
"Sure thing boss, but why?"
"We need you to teach that hippie fool of a 'brand ambassador' how to drive, before he embarrasses us in public again"
Is he really a brand ambassador?"Sure thing boss, but why?"

There's no making excuses for the accident...it was a st piece of driving. It sounds to me like he's lifting off going into the corner...if that's because he see's the oncoming cars or just because it was st driving doesn't really make any difference....as he came round the corner he realised he was going too fast which in a 911 leaves you with two unpalatable options...lift off or brake mid-corner.
Doesn't mean he can't design cars that a lot of people don't like but he's seemingly st behind the wheel especially as he knew exactly what was coming round that bend.

So they let people drive on the road on slicks in your country?
As long as they have two grooves the proper thread depth. I run a set on my Rs211 but it is only a sunny day car..ian_uk said:
These are legal in UK and the sevens are not far off slicks but you need to drive appropriately to the conditions
How do these have at least 1.6mm throughout a continuous band in the centre 3/4 of the tread and around the entire circumference. The nearest tire only has tread on 1/3 at best !!
