Afternoon All.

I think this may have been covered before, but the search I did only revealed threads from about 7 years ago, and I understand the law has changed since then, so any help I could get would be appreciated. I have a 991 GTS, bought this year, and I'm thinking of adding aftermarket headers and 200-cell cats, but I don't want to void my entire warranty. My understanding is that, under the motor industry Block Exemption brought into EU law in 2010, the burden of proof is on the dealer to prove that a fault was caused by the modification.

Does anyone have any direct experience of having new-car warranty claims accepted or denied with aftermarket exhaust parts fitted?

I'm meeting with the principal of my OPC on Tuesday to discuss something else, and we have a pretty good relationship, so my current plan is to talk it over with him. Then again, I know sometimes it's better to 'ask forgiveness not permission'...!

Cheers!

Interesting, thanks. Mine is 3 years. I'd never thought of renewing a warranty (never had a new car before!), but I guess aftermarket warranty companies exist who might look at a modified car if I wanted to go down the renewing route?

Unfortunately (or Fortunately depending on your point of view) Porsche owners tend to be a bit anal about Service History and Warranty. Even though its only exhaust parts I think you need to tread carefully. Porsche frown upon any changes to standard for renewing warranty and their warranties are usually very good compared to anything aftermarket that you might get.

Any Mod will impact greatly on resale after the Factory Warranty expires as most buyers will want a 3 or 4 yr old car to come with a Porsche Extended Warranty for peace of mind.

Do you mind me asking what was the verdict?
