Upset from family at potential 993 sale
Discussion
I have bought and sold several nice cars over the years without much comment but when I suggested to my family that I was going to sell my blue 993 C2 manual coupe there was a big reaction! My teenage daughters are giving me dagger looks and begging me to keep it. My wife is also pretty upset. What is it about these cars that generates such love?
I have a 996, 612 and 1967 merc sl in the collection, none of which attracts such loyalty.

Nice marketing!
My decision to sell was partly based on an offer from a Porsche Indi for my car. So, when I sell, it'll probably go there for simplicity's sake. Another factor was the question of how much further these cars have to go in terms of value. My merc has cost me £35k with a potential ceiling of £100k. My 993 has cost me £15k with an ceiling of £30k. Time to sell ?

Don't quite understand what that means £30k is on the lowish side for a 993.993s are relatively easy to value based on the year/mileage/variant/transmission/specification/history/colour combo/condition, etc.
Where prices go from here is anyone's guess - no one really knows. But, the really good ones will always be desirable.

If your lovable indy has offered you anything beginning with a '2', I'm first in the queue to offer more.Another factor was the question of how much further these cars have to go in terms of value. This is going to turn disorderly.....

But you already have one.Speculating, OC??
OP, I'm surprised the Merc hasn't had the same effect. Far prettier than most Porsches and turns more heads. A friend has an old white one and it stops people in their tracks.

I have a feeling that was the point of this post....
Seriously, I am much more interested in trying to understand my daughters` love for the 993. None of them have driven it, I doubt that they are interested in values, the 612 is more comfortable etc etc.But they think that it is cool and they seem to have an emotional connection to it,belfry said:

A few of my friends' wives go all misty-eyed when they look at the rear of the 993 - I think it must be a child-bearing hips female thing. An ex-girlfriend (petrolhead) had a similar thing for her Triumph Spitfire.Ask a psychoanalyst.

The World is not enough.Unfortunately my 993 also has to go. ( Black / Black C2S )
House extension and alterations need to be paid for - and even the currant Mrs Sultana has tried to make the sums work so that the 993 can stay.
I remember taking it to Hartech for a major service and inspection when I first bought it. The inspection was flawless and then assembled mechanics declared it to be a keeper.
It is a very sad day as I dont imagine I will be in another one anytime soon, and certainly not a colour/spec/condition car like the one I am fortunate to own for the next few weeks.
