GT Experience at Silverstone
Discussion
Guys,
I'm thinking about booking the GT Experience at Silverstone
http://www.porsche.com/silverstone/en/experience/p...
Has anybody done this one?
Driving the GT2 and GT3
Event Cost: £395 (incl. 20% VAT)
One-to-one Tuition: Yes
Event Car: GT2 & GT3
Running Length: 90 mins
My wife promised to take me for lunch for my birthday but it would be a shame not to drive something when there...?
I have done experience days in the past but always come away disappointed as they never let you actually have fun.
Just after a bit of honest feedback before I give then £400
or should I just go "all in" and do the RS one...?

Pretty sure it will be on the PEC Track .
I've done the occasional "proper" track day in the past and personally I still have fun on the PEC track. As long as you get a good instructor you can pretty much do what you want , once he / she is happy you know what your doing. You will have to be wary of slower traffic as you'll be out with probably half a dozen Macan's. My thought's are maybe a little rose tinted as my 3 sessions have all been free , as you get a half day with a new car purchase . You cant not have fun hammering someone else 991 GT3 for 3 hrs .......
If you regularly do normal track days then I would say its not for you.

I did it in July, in the 991 GT3 and 997 GT2.
It is on the PEC circuit which is quite short but very technical, you also take the cars on the skid area and on the other PEC circuit where they let you launch and emergency stop the cars several times.
I had a great time and thought it was worth the money, lets you see what the cars capable of when the instructor does a couple of 'hot laps'....
Make sure you ask for the 991 GT3 otherwise they stick you in the 997. I don't think the GT3 RS is available through the experience centre yet, it was only their for customer drives when I attended.

Its still a 9000rpm change 2nd to 3rd several times a lap , along with several launch control starts and quite a few doughnuts throughout the day ...... Treatment I wouldn't give my own car. Yes the track is 2nd and 3rd gear but regardless its free , its someone else car , lunch is pretty good so good fun in my book. Hi Bully
I've done the Precision course in my own car but that involved the PEC track and Silverstone (actually the full GP but that's another story).
I'm booked on the GT3 Experience too (5th October) but because the PEC track is short (but technical), I've asked to swap the GT2 for the 997.2 GT3 so I can drive it back to back with the 991 GT3. The point is, they're flexible if you want to swap things around as others have done too.
Have fun!
