BTW ive got a mate whose picking up a new 997 c2s and hes booked on the day!!(at Bedford that is!!)

Do you think hes mad, or are running in periods a thing of the past????

He says he wont take it over 4500 rpm......

Hmmm, i wouldn't, although i did take my Turbo cab for a few laps round there when it was less than a week old.
I told myself that i wouldn't push it, but the temptation was too great, and i did go a bit harder than i should of.
I think the brakes maybe as much of a worry as the engine to tell the truth, as even if you don't push the engine that hard, the braking will still be quite punishing for a new set that haven't bedded in yet.

Just make sure he doesn't try to keep up with your GT3 !!

Glenn, I dropped my car off at JZ today for a set-up change and some new boots and Dave was telling about your upgrades - sounds like the final version will be fantastic. I think he is wasted as a technician and should be in Sales as I feel my cheque book twitching! I drove Stefan's with a similar set up and I was really surprised how so much better it was to drive - a civilised RS.

Enjoy....

Kieran,

Thanks for that, yes it's a slippery slope, but once you've got the bug, you've got the bug.

I never even had mine set up from standard, and the understeer was awful, but went out in one that had been set up, and the turn in was amazing, definately worth the £500.
So hopefully with the Manthey suspension, and setup i'm hoping for big improvements !

Are you at Bedford on the 5th ?

Glenn, I'm trying to free up the 5th for Bedford, it would be great to drive the 'yella fella's' back to back and contrast. On second thoughts that may not be a great idea as it has the potential to do irrepairable damage to my long term cashflow.

Have fun,

Kieran

Thanks to a bit of encouragement from Trackdemon and Aceparts, I've finally booked my first trackday at Bedford on the 5th. Hope the weather is going to be better than today!

Any advise now or on the day would be appreciated...

There are loads of 'trackday top tips' but from me:

- Book 2 lessons, 1 in morning and 1 in afternoon. To start potter round for 1/2 hour then have first lesson.

- Build up speed slowly. Remember it's not a race...well at least to start with it's not!

Thanks roygarth. Any other tips for a first-timer would be great.

Also, is there a website where I can see a plan of the circuit? I've seen a Palmer corporate driving day brochure but its split into lots of small circuits rather than one big one.
