Another 900KM's today. Starting to stretch its legs a bit. Not actually that quick and really miss the last feral 1500RPM of the GT3 but it's quick enough......maybe????
Lovely lovely car for the money though and loads of luggage space, we popped into Chateaux Lynch-Bages for a bit of shopping, so it's about 200KG heavier than when we set off
Decided that the seats are perfect for me 1.84M lightish build.
21MPG at 120KPH average which is on a par with GT3. Not sure if it's a keeper yet. Need more time to bond, still love the way it looks. every time I walk up to it I smile, that's a good sign. Back tomorrow, fully run in and if the weather is fit Donington on Thursday. Happy days

Interesting - earlier you thought it may be similar performance to your 997 GT3...now that you have experienced more of the power band, are you changing your view on that?Lovely lovely car for the money though and loads of luggage space, we popped into Chateaux Lynch-Bages for a bit of shopping, so it's about 200KG heavier than when we set off

I've got one coming in Q1 next year. Whilst dicing with a mate in his hired GT4 at Spa, I felt my 996 GT3 was of similar pace (probably a touch slower allowing for hire car nerves)...be interesting to see once one is more comfortable with it whether it is quite a but quicker than our experience at Spa.

(Mind you, there is a video on YT with someone doing a fairly sensational 2.44 lap in a GT4 - not sure what tyres, so it all depends on the driver anyway!)

Who's running the trackday at Donnington? I'm local and would love to pop along Thursday morning for a quick look at the car, which is stunning by the way.Lovely lovely car for the money though and loads of luggage space, we popped into Chateaux Lynch-Bages for a bit of shopping, so it's about 200KG heavier than when we set off

It's not a track day it's an open test session. I have a race license and there are not many cars out so I should be able to sneak out for a bit. Lanan racing who look after some of my cars are testing their new F4 cars so I am hitching a ride with them.Mind you I may not be going now as the forecast is a bit pants and I don't fancy it much in the wet on cups, so don't rush down.

who made the sticky plate.....(just road legal for me though )
I did with a lot of help from the decal maker who cut the letters. The backing plates are easy to get from a decent motor factors. They are used on trailers and the like. The decal lad put them on the car which is half the battle, when I do it it ends up looking like Nora Battys tights!LaSource said:

Sorry bit tired when I typed that last night. I miss the last 1500RPM of the 991GT3 rather than the 997 GT3. Performance wise the 997GT3 and the GT4 are overall similar but also quite different. The GT4 seems to be have a more generous torque curve and a very linear delivery by comparison. There is no significant hole in the torque curve on the GT4 but no extra top end excitement either. Perhaps it's just the evolution of engine tuning that has smoothed things out. As a DD the GT4 is better IMHO. I have only got 2000miles on so Its very much first impressions for the top end of the GT4.I've got one coming in Q1 next year. As a quality place to sit and while away the hours the GT4 is much nicer than any GT3 I have experience off, 991 included. The interior is lovely, especially the buckets.
Still not totally convinced by the GT4 yet for me. The jury is still out in my head. one thing for definite it is an absolute bargain. Not sure I can buy into the ECOTY result but the Autocar verdict is drivel.

Have to say, your Guards Red looks fantastic. Nice plate
Thankyou for the nice photos.Just sent Ian my stickon plates yesterday and also purchased another matching private plate for my Cayenne. The reason i have private plates on my Porsches is to disguise to the local busybodies when i get a new Porsche, all three of the new Cayennes i've bought from OPC Cardiff have had the same plate and black colour so nobody the wiser!.I'm hoping to pop down to Cardiff this weekend for a quick inspection.Noticed my car has Dunlops rather than Michelins, probably better in the wet ,only time will tell
H
Great place for driving though!
Lovely, well sighted roads through a lovely part of the world

When we popped into Chateaux Lynch-Bages my missus and her mother went bonkers over ceramic hens, you could do 200kg in ceramics easily...and overly large serving dishes shaped as vegetables...Lovely lovely car for the money though and loads of luggage space, we popped into Chateaux Lynch-Bages for a bit of shopping, so it's about 200KG heavier than when we set off

Can you please PM me the details of where you purchased your stickon plates from and what size you opted for?

Day three finished and now fully run in. I might have been a bit hasty in questioning the performance it suddenly got a lot quicker when I took 300Kgs of wine and passenger out! As usual the economy improved markedly as the miles piled on.
24MPG now up from 21MPG on day one. not bad considering that I am using all the available grunt now as well. Similar average speed.
It is a noisy beast, and low at the front, lots more scrunching than in the GT3, (wine again maybe )
Got to give it a damm good clean now then a proper strop around my favorite Isle of Man roads for the definitive verdict, once it stops raining.

Don't worry Mark if i wanted it to be a secret i wouldn't have posted on this forum monday night.IMHO your photos do guards red GT4 with yellow PCCB justice.I received my front stickon four digit plate from DMB GRAPHICS based in Ledbury, just google it.The minimum legal size plate in UK is 240mm which works well with the front stickon.Unfortunately the 240mm rear plate i also had from DMB is too short to cover the rear plinth recess and trade plate screw holesCan you please PM me the details of where you purchased your stickon plates from and what size you opted for?
Cheers
First thing tomorrow i'm gonna email DMB to make me a new 280mm plate which cost £11+vat each.
