Cayman GT4 delivery and photos thread

I'm booking my Gloos Black Targa 4 GTS in at KDS there just round the corner from me for a 2 stage detail plus a coating of some special nanocoating finish...allegedly you Only have to wash the car with clean water and leave it to dry and that's job done apparently it lasts up to 2 yrs (Hmm we'll see) ....job will take 5 Days and cost £835 +VAT (sounds expensive to me but heyho saves me making a lash of it) mind you not sure why it takes 5 days to do but then I'm not in the Detilling business.....and to think I said I'd never buy another Black car...Sheesh

Yes does look very nice.
Forgive my ignorance, but what is the benefit of 'detailing' a new car - is it expensive?

A couple of before and after pictures so you can see the condition of the paint. They said a lot of the marks are from poor sanding at the factory. If you check out the blog on the Exclusive Care website you'll see they have detailed a GT4 and Boxster Spyder recently and the paint from new is pretty shocking IMO.
I had the G-Techniq ceramic coatings as they are guaranteed for 5 years and make the car so much easier to look after and clean. I clean the car myself so anything that cuts down the time I spend on it is great as I would rather be driving than cleaning.
Expensive? Yes, but it's relative as the cars are expensive as well and they look even more stunning once detailed and are easier to look after. Worth it? IMO definitely! Wife's new car is already booked in for when it get delivered to the dealer next month.

All detailed and back with the OPC for collection on Friday. A big thanks to Justin at Exclusive Car Detailing for doing such a great job at short notice and on what turned out to be some pretty shocking paintwork.
Should be nice for the summer with Gtechniq crystal serum topped with Exo and wheels finished with C5 plus all glass treated & the inside protected as well.
Only two more sleeps to a weekend of fun!! ??

Get rid of swirls and orange peel. I suppose if you ppf the whole car, no need to detail.
Wrong I am afraid. PPF does not mask issues within the paint, if anything it is likely to exaggerate them. The paint job needs to be detailed first and any issues rectified. The PPF is then applied to seal and protect that finish.Streetrod said:

Different viewpoint on this then. detailing a car and the putting glue on it seems a waste of money esp with the new film from suntech, excel
But no harm I suppose, and you can finish off all trim and wheels at the same time.
Isn't about the glue, it's about the swirls still showing through the film once on. Should always get a car detailed before applying PPF.But no harm I suppose, and you can finish off all trim and wheels at the same time.
Rubbish iPhone pic but here's mine, collected this afternoon from West London Porsche. It really stood out, every other car they had in their (very small) temporary showroom was black.
40 miles so far, mostly in traffic. It's certainly not for shy and retiring types. Gets about 100 times more attention than my old 981 S.

Are these pics outside Acklington Mart? that's near where I live we should meet up and go for a drive, I've just collected a yellow GT4! Sorry I'd spoil the white theme!
Yes. I'm in Newcastle, where are you based? Wondering if there's any more in Northumberland/Tyneside.Mustangs]oln-RS said:

I agree, they are made for driving and getting dirty IMO
Depends how far you go with new vehicle prep - some detailers will spend a week applying potions, lotions, serums and creams. I was a sceptic too but detailing a new car properly makes maintenance much easier and ensures that the car actually leaves the showroom in showroom condition. I've been surprised at just how badly prepared new cars I have bought are prior to detailing.Forgive my ignorance, but what is the benefit of 'detailing' a new car - is it expensive? [/quote

Think of it this way, less time spent cleaning the car is more time spent driving. I don't believe that anyone on this forum who owns a car like a GT4 won't wash it a few times.

Great colour and looks really stunning. 40 miles so far, mostly in traffic. It's certainly not for shy and retiring types. Gets about 100 times more attention than my old 981 S.
Looks epic, enjoy.....
