Thanks for the suggestion (and I know I'll get hammered for this) but no bose! Plus don't you think its expensive for a non OPC car?

if it was in an opc it would be c£56k but you would get 2 year warranty!but I would start with a cheeky offer of £45k and perhaps settle at £47.5k which for a low miles late 997.2s is not bad a similar age/mileage gts would be up for closer to £70k(actually there is one up for £69995!).so its £20k cheaper!

Have you had Bose? It's not all that. I had Burmester in one of mine and even that was just okay. The standard kit is good enough IMHO.

Where's the one for £70k? There are no 2wd coupes for that money anywhere in the network, PDK or manual.

Ah, I see.

Is it me, or do the rear wheels on that seem to sit further outboard than some GTSs?

Yes I have it at the moment, I know it gets a lot of stick but my ears have attuned nicely to it. I really can't stand sound package plus or even the one below that.

Bose is better than SPP but still crap, which makes it a very personal decision whether having something less crap (but still crap) is important. I don't think I really get anything more out of the Bose than SPP. Both are OK for listening to Radio 4 and pretty bad for anything else (like music).

I had Bose in my 997.1 and used to have the bass set at -5 permanently.

I think mine is at -4 or so, too. It's a chavvy set up, which is just bizarre.

That's got the "Hexagon tax" on it though.....

I'm not sure that GTS asking prices and advertised prices are that closely related. There seem to be a number of people on here that bought well spec'd GTS's for around £50k where you see them advertised for high 50's +. Most £60k+ examples are 2012 4wd versions.

Personally I think the premium for the GTS is worth it for the wide body (and extra rubber), power kit and alcantara but if those things aren't important then a 997.2 C2S will be a good choice.

I am going to guess you're wrong there, given that cars haven't been hanging around and that OPC asking prices have risen. Yes, there was a time when you could buy one for around £50k (and in fact I did) but I think that time has passed for now.

You will not find or would be bloody lucky to find a low miles >15k manual 2wd Gts for less than £60k!which imo makes a low miles manual c2s sub £50k a bit of a good buy!if the car c2s above was basalt black it would have sold a long time ago when advertised at £51950!

Maybe, I haven't tracked prices so much since I bought mine in August.

There do seem to be a lot of people on here that have bought around the £50k mark within the last year. Always happy if the value is rising though!

I don't recall many OPC purchases on here C£50k in recent months. I bought mine in April and secured a good deal due to some very specific circumstances. It wouldn't happen again.

I reckon for a reasonable spec average miles car you'll be paying high 50s to 60. More for lower miles. If you want cheap, it's the leggy one's you'll get or you'll be buying outside the dealer network.

I am not talking my own book here, but thus far the GTS has been quite good news in terms of depreciation or lack thereof. It is on a par possibly with my 997.1 which I bought during the depths of the financial crisis and sold to a dealer for the same money two years later.

That's exactly what i did,

If spending the whole 55k then a 997 GTS for me or a very close second a Cayman GTS, and that's only because I'm a 911 man, but the Cayman GTS is a spectacular car.

I get the saving, but I'm not sure you can really compare a stock 996 C4 to a 997.2 GTS in terms of the steer...just imho :-)

I've had both the 997 GTS and the CR. In my view, they are both excellent cars. When I first got the CR, I was somewhat disappointed with it and really missed the GTS. But now, I think the CR is just a great little car. There are one or two quirks which are easy enough to resolve but the balance is stunning. It's a superbly well-judged car IMHO, I love hoofing around in mine.

The 997GTS though is an incredible car, great feel, very special, looks lovely with the wide body. I loved mine and did tons of miles in it. It's the one I'd go for in your shoes.
