981 Spyder or GT4 ?

No. There is a fair number of unique parts to the GT4 suspension.

On another forum somewhere there is a review by an American owners club which points out a number of the changes, from a 'standard boxster'. If I can find it, I'll edit this post with a link.

I suspect it's a bit late now OP but reading your post I would have guessed you would go for the Spyder. Seems to me you like open top motoring more than you like 'hardcore' motoring. My vote is Spyder. But then I'm Biased
