Did you buy the car to drive it and enjoy it, or to maximise every last £££ of further potential value? scratchchin

Personally I would just drive it ASAP - I mean once its the 2nd Jan, then 1st March won't seem that far away either and potentially waiting again for further £££ savings.....

Possibly a bit harsh - it's entirely reasonable to think about delaying taking delivery for a few weeks if you have a choice of Dec vs Jan; Feb vs Mar; or Aug vs Sep. What you end up doing isn't necessarily mainly about resale (it isn't for me, my insurance renewal is on 9th Jan which makes the admin a fair bit easier).

Don't see anything wrong with waiting if it may yield a better long term gain; these are expensive cars, minimising losses is sensible. I suspect quite a few over extend themselves to buy such a car in the hope or expectation that it may ultimately lead to a few years 'free' driving.

Thanks for your replies guys,

My opc said its fine to keep it in the showroom if I want.

hmmmm decisions...
I would take it immediately & start to enjoy it - I too can't see this affecting residuals smile

+1
I always smile when I hear people mention being sensible in the same sentence as buying a new car!

If you're planning on keeping it for only a year or so I would say it will make little difference to the residual value, on the other hand if its a 3 to 4 year ownership schedule you have in mind I would say it probably will make a much bigger difference.

Only you know how much use you will get out of it in the next 5 weeks if you take it now. If you do wait make sure that the OPC don't register it early anyway to hit their December target!

Hi Guys,

My GT4 is finally arriving this week, Im in 2 minds whether to pick up next week or wait till the 1st?

Will it make any difference come resale?

The weather is poor at the mo so i cant see me using it much over December anyway.

Would appreciate your views?
Get it registered and on the road asap..! Life is too short to have it sat in the dealer's showroom for the next month..! Besides, the weather isn't really going to improve until at least March. Mine was registered 2 days after it arrived at the dealer. I'm using it regularly, its balance on wet roads is quite astonishing

Residual value on an in demand car like the GT4 will be unaffected by being a Dec 15 or Jan 16 car. Look at GT3 values. Early ones, late ones; original engine, swapped engine.....they're all making pretty similar money.

Funnily enough I had a call from my opc this afternoon to say my car arrived this morning, couldn't resist in the end so I'm picking up this friday. They also said if I wait till Jan then they can't raise an invoice to my finance company till Jan and this could effect the deal I got with them.

Roll on Friday.

Thanks for views.

Sounds more like a line they came up with to make sure it went into their December sales figures...... but who cares because you get to drive it on Friday! smile

Mine arrived at the OPC yesterday - I'm picking it up on Saturday. I couldn't wait, and as others have said, I'd rather it was in my garage than sat in an open air parking area at the rear of an OPC...

Yep, boat full of GT4's, mine arrived at the dealer today too. Looking forward to picking it up. Had the option of waiting 'til Jan to take delivery but why wait, it was bought to drive after all.

Recently UK deliveries have come with dunlops but was happy to see mine came with Michelins yesterday.

Anyone else in the last week's gt4's came with dunlops?

The weather deteriorates from Jan onwards so if you are going to wait until the 1st then you might as well wait until March. Unless you plan to drive it through the worst of the winter salt and grime.

I'm being forced to wait until March because they won't build it until then, wish I could have it sooner.
