Great outfit, they've sold 2 cars for me & it's always been easy & transparent. Have also bought from them with no problems either.

I’m interested in a car that thy have for sale. Should I still arrange for a PPI to be carried out independently?

I’ve not bought from them but people I know that have sold cars through them have mentioned how thorough the PPI is

EDIT: so independent PPI may not be worth it

I can offer a perspective on this ...

I recently sold my substantially modified GT4 to a customer of RPM Technik who we both agreed should inspect the car and, in effect, be the independent arbiter of the quality of the car.

Before my phase 2 modification I had had the car compression and over-rev checked ... and having owned the car from new after 8+ years I knew as much about the car as RPM Technik could discover from their three hour evaluation.

After the check the prospective purchaser, Ollie and myself sat down and went through their evaluation. Their report felt like a potted history of my car and was absolutely on the button of the condition that I knew the car was in ...

In a way it fully validated my ownership process and of course the sale concluded as provisionally agreed, but I was very impressed by the professionalism and detail of the process.

My conclusion, first hand, was and is that they are a first class outfit .... trustworthy in a way that so many businesses who are answerable to external shareholders, are sadly no longer.

Thank-you .... I was so pleased that none of the original components were required as a part of the transaction ... this said everything to me about a shared belief in this project, a story which now continues in the hands of the new owner.

Now I need to start writing another story with my new (old) car ... the journey continues ... smile

I sold my previous 911 through RPM Technik, and the inspection report was way more thorough than the one i received from my OPC previously. They changed the tyres due to age, found a broken spring (and changed it under warranty) and even replaced some exhaust brackets they were not happy with. The new owner got a cracking car.

I then asked Alex to find me a GT3 with a certain spec. A couple of weeks later I got a whatsapp whilst in a field in Devon and it was perfect! Biggest car purchase of my lift bought sight unseen as I felt I could trust their approach. It was (and still is) perfect! They even sorted me out when I had an idiot moment and poured oil into the coolant reservoir. No hassle car collection and coolant system clean.

I'm visiting them on Wednesday for new tyres and a geo setup even though it is a 5 hour round trip and my OPC is 10 minutes away. Enough said.

I found them a great outfit when buying, looked after me and no bs. They did a proper PPI with issues fixed and the car was faultless after, some of the issues flagged would have been ignored by other garages.

I bought a 996.2 GT3 off them in November and they were superb. Covered a couple of warranty items too. I would highly recommend.

They run my 3RS for me (which I also bought from them), restomodded my 964 WTL Cab and even did a pretty decent job on my 356. Highly recommended.

I’m viewing a car at RPM this week.
I thought I read elsewhere that they don’t offer test drives. Is that correct?

You're thinking of RSJ cars in Slough, RPMT are happy to allow test drives, and even solo ones at that in my experience.

Don’t think their SOR clients will be happy to hear that, seeing that most of their business is SOR. They do have great cars though, strong PPi and Porsche Warranty a bonus.

The Porsche warranty has nothing to do with RPM, though

You get it because the cars are a private sale (assuming the car is still under warranty)

No different (in this aspect) to buying privately or any from most other specialist dealers

Yes I know that, but yes I should have been more clear, was meaning the PPi from RPM would appear more detailed than Porsche OPC, regarding the comments from all above and if the car also has an extended Porsche warranty on it, then best of both worlds.
