There will be no GT4 RS.....only the recent non road based Clubsport.

They may need to offer one for homologation reasons. Unlikely that the current GT4 platform won't need changing in some way over the next season or so

Quoted for posterity. I'm not saying you are wrong by the way, other than I have heard 911R in July of this year.
No offence taken. Fortunately you have to remember that there are 5 Regions across the world for Porsche, so some of my data might not relate to UK here with my source. Also the information is based on production plus shipping so depends where the country of origin will be for the model and how quick it can get there.

To give you an example in the Australia and the Middle East thee 991.2 isn't physically there yet for customers. However the UK does have them.

The time line is accurate maybe market depending though.

The 911R certainly will be released in March. However I know customers with the RS where this happened last year the first dealer allocations were not until July onwards. Which then would mean in some instances October/November delivery depending on markets in the east. UK and Germany pretty much the following month I know.

Yep, you could be right. My comment on timing was for the UK and it will be different for different markets I guess.

Did gt3's only come In white ? Saying that when I went to my opc to look at colours probably 60-70% of their used stock was white.what is wrong with people ?
Blame Apple.

I like white btw.....the perfect colour for a GT car......classical, loud enough without being shouty, safe, good road presence and doesn t show minor scratches.
Nothing wrong with white... Except it's not green

There are a few brave 991 owners out there but clearly the 997 owners were a bit more adventurous

I agree there will not be a GT4 RS for some time anyway. Marketing don't need to add one when the wave is already high for the car. Maybe 718 GT4 RS end of production life cycle you might see one to give the existing floor plan a final push for sales. Is my thought anyway.

It was ok,but the fact that there are so many whites on the road sort of spoils it is the point I was trying to make .

This is big news no?

Exactly - was never in doubt...Preuninger had given so many hints on interviews as well as saying when asked by Jethro when the GT4 was released 'how long can we expect to see these NA atmospheric engines' and his reply was' dont worry a good while yet' the idea that a few Cayennes with potential emission issues was going to derail this was in my mind nonsense. There is a very good Forbes magazine article about Preuninger and the GT cars about the profit per car everything..worth a read plus he said just in November the GT dept is 'overly busy' at the moment - not going to be on just one car is it.

If the 991.2 GT3 is released with a brand new engine, the prices of the 991.1 GT3 will be negatively affected I think.

As a side note, if the 991.2 GT3 is released later this year with a sticker price of ....say...£105k then what will that do to the prices of the GT4!? Never mind the 991.1 GT3.

How many are going to get one for £105k though! People will talk them up on here again (understeer finally gone) and they will sky rocket.

Groundhog day! I nice game if you can afford to play of course!

I have to say in my view (and I am not an owner I wish I was!!) I dont think the 991 GT3 Gen 1 will fall that much - its still a brilliant car and I think you'll see a few people step in to the mkt if they fall towards list again - -just my view. GT4 is a great car but at £100k or so I just think the market opens up to quite a few others. North of £100k I think it has to really be top spec and delivery miles now.

Interesting! But as someone has said why did anyone ever think it would be different. I think those who claimed to have had inside info that there would only be 132 type 991 Gt3s and no Gen 2s have long since flipped their cars so probably don't care anymore.

Price wise: it's still a niche market for these cars and supply will essentially be doubled. But this will bring prices back to sensible albeit strong levels compared to the peer group.

A giant win for proper drivers and enthusiasts. We should be happy.

Whilst it may all be true, some people are drawing an awful lot of firm conclusions purely on the basis of a spy shot of a disguised 911...

regardless of the spy shot, I am not sure why there would not be a 991.2 GT3 - just as there was for 996 and 997 generation cars. Porsche is in the business of selling cars and GT3s seem to be selling quite well, so why not offer another one? Don't really get the reasoning people are employing to say there won't be one. Also won't they have to homologate new parts for their race car updates and therefore need new GT3s and RSs?

Perhaps. But surely we with our knowledge of 911s can see it's not as generic as "a disguised 911". The exhaust locations are unique to the GT cars (and possibly R). The aparent lack of air scoops/intakes indicate it is not a Gen 2 turbo engine but rather a n/a engine.

It is very possible it's an R test mule though.

I thought this was the supposed mule for the 911R??

http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/spy-shots/porsche/por...

These new spy shots look a lot more basic than ones above..unless the car in the Car magazine article is the new GTS?? - I still think there is a chance the 991.2 GTS is NA..admittedly I am pretty much alone on that though!!
