Its not even amusing any more. I shall refrain in the future. Certain dealers like JZM and 911V keeping it real but even dealers we've bought from in the past like Hairpin have lost the plot IMO. JD Classics some fantastic stock but living in la la land on their more run of the mill stock.
The point is that these two dealers have an impeccable reputation and turn stock over pretty quickly. One may not like it, but they are where the market is price wise for the type of top quality vehicles which they sell. (I have no connection at all with either!)
Agreed they're good guys but even in current market that red Carrera G50 worth £70k to £75k tops not £90k. Same with JD's lovely 930 - its mint in one off colour but restored which I hold against it so £150k if you have more money than sense but personally I'd see it £100k not £335k. There's a tipping point where even dealers with fantastic reputations like theirs start making themselves look like chops.

Contacted JD Classics on this lovely 1978 911 turbo (not sure what LM stands for). Its been restored so expected it to be in region of £75 to £100k tops as LHD. £335,000

So asked what the 1983 MB 500 SL (again restored not original) standing next to it was up for. £125,000
LM = Loads of Money?

car world has gone mental
Ha. There was no 930 LM as far as I'm aware. There was a 924 Le Mans.

May be the first 930 was launched as a celebration to their turbocharged victories at Le Mans but thats about it. Tenuous to say the least. On that basis you could call every 930 an LM lol. I'm no longer looking in the classifieds. My fave hobby ruined.

Will have to stick to building models of them for now lol

I had an interesting conversation with Hairpin on the G50. When the owner told me the £90k price I said the 964 C2 he sold us with similar miles must also be worth the same money if not more as there were far fewer made. You should have seen the back tracking lol 964 C2 not perceived to be quite as reliable or sought after at the mo lol but maybe in a few years.

I agree mental to the point its starting to become irritating. I have no problem anyone asking whatever they want but keep it real guys as its bordering on mis selling especially when they talk about great investment opportunity for the future blah blah blah. As i said earlier the word chop springs to mind but can be replaced with many others as you please smile

I just bought an '89 G50 Coupe for £80k, which I intend to use fairly regularly during BST.
Whats the spec mileage? Be nice to see a pic and how many miles a year do you intend to cover in her?

What is derivation of 'chop' and what does it mean?
Northern slang (i think) for when one makes a fool of themselves or embarrasses themselves

i must be a fashionista as I'd buy that! Sadly I only value it at 25% of the asking price i.e. £75,000 - even that is pushing it as i'd rather buy an unrestored car.

Yes, sorry, will sort something soon.

I'm away and it's currently at Porsche Swindon having its 24,000 mls service. Very pretty little car.

I had two in the '80s and a CS for 12 years, and just wanted to get back into a really nice 3.2 that still looked, felt, smelt, and drove like a new one. I'll use it regularly through April to October.
Wow looking forward to seeing the pics. Its not the anniversary Hexagon had is it?

You're right. If you'd said £75,000 for that LHD 930 a year a go I'd have sectioned you. They are truly awful to drive so much so I sold the one I bought after a month. Still want one though!

Geneve what's the colour combination?
Guards Red with full black leather, sports seats (piped red), Sport spec but no rear spoiler (supplied with two engine lids - with and without), FPSH, 23k mls, 3 ownrs, etc. Nice original example
That sounds very nice indeed - think it deserves its own thread. You need to get yourself loud braces and a stripy suit! You'll be time warped straight back to the 80's!!
