Man, am I torn. I put a deposit down in June of 2014 for this car. In March of 2015 I get a call that they have a car for me...it is an allotment from a 918 owner. Since I wanted to do factory delivery and I couldn't do that in 2015 on such short notice, I passed on the slot. Still holding the "first in line" spot at the dealer.
Then I decide that I want a paint to sample car and inform all that need to know about my decision. Still want factory delivery also, and am told I need a November allocation for a June pick-up.
Then the PTS window closes after 3 weeks or so, but am told that "it might come back".
Now the end of production is nearing. I've given up on PTS, so I call my dealer and tell him to put in an order so I can do the June '16 factory delivery...and he tells me he has spoken to the Porsche person in Atlanta who has said that PTS still might be possible for June or July production...doubtful, but possible. Now I am really torn...I'd kick myself if I got a 'normal' color when a PTS color could be had.
So, back on the phone to the dealer...they agree to let me order a car for June factory delivery and if the PTS window reopens, they'll take the car to sell and let me order a PTS one. If this happens, factory delivery is out. So all is good, right?
No, I still want my special color. I am really torn. I've booked a lot of our european trip, which is no biggie, I can rent a car. I'm thinking of passing on the car, and just let my deposit ride until the next GT4 rolls around. But will there be another? Given how successful the first one was, and how Porsche is in the business of making money, I bet yes. Will it be normally aspirated? I'm not as sure on this point as the previous. I also think the price will be significantly more.
Thoughts?

I think the next GT4 will be turbo and given the popularity of this one they will make more and engineer it's own slightly cheaper components for brakes etc. The current car may well be a real unicorn in the Porsche world..

Don't miss it!

Well a June build will mean a lock-down I assume in April, so why not just wait to decide then, as maybe it will be clearer whether PTS will return? I'm resided to the fact it won't be back, and whilst I'd love it to, in a way the additional choice of colours would cause me even more stress. Question yourself, is the choice of colours so bad that you'd turn away the opportunity to buy a GT4 at list price because of it? Couldn't you just pick a colour and if you don't like it, either wrap the car or sell it (for a profit)?

No chance of next one being turbo imo.

Turbocharging is to help efficiency targets and eu regulations being met.... there will always be space for cars made in small volumes relative to the rest of the line up from a manufacturer to br made in NA if the manufacturer wants to.. and for Porsche its like to become a USP on their GT3/4 cars and maybe even 911 GTS

I hear what you are saying but with the 6 cylinder na engine no longer being in production and will have been for over 2 years I can't see them resurrecting it just for a few thousand GT4s, the engine bay for the cayman apparently isn't big enough for the 6 cylinder turbo so the only option would be to turn the wick up on the 4c turbo...

Hence the 1st gen GT4 being a unicorn. I could be wrong and they build some 6 cy NA engines but I think we'll just get the GT3 as NA and GT4 will go turbo..

We'll see either way.

Thought? I think you are bonkers.

Most can't get an allocation, never mind worrying about PTS.

Can I make a plea please; if anyone in or around the Cheshire area has a GT4 in yellow or GT silver WITH the black wheels that wouldn't mind me having a quick look, to drop me a message or reply on here, as I 'think' I've narrowed my choices to those two colours, albeit my spec is in for yellow at the moment. Has to be that spec, seen a variety of them with the plat wheels, but need to see with black. Thanks in advance.

A well tweaked GT 4 could then turn out to be quicker than the GT3?

Good choice, I would have gone black wheels if they were gloss, but Matt looks naff IMO .

So go plat and you can change to gloss black later if you wish

Has anyone seen the latest EVO?
GT4 came in top 3 of their 'Best track COTY' test against some focused track weapons .
Praise indeed.
As for the next one being turbo'd I really don't think so, PDK yes but AP has the nod to keep GT cars NA if he wants too .

Unfortunately I'm not near Cheshire, but I have GT silver with black wheels.
I know I'm biased but definitely go for black if you change to silver. They give a good contrast with silver & also bring the whole car together with the silver/black scheme.
Inmo the matt black suits the machined clinical look of the gt silver especially with the more aggressive 4 look. Gloss looks a bit blingy/cheaper to me. I'll get u a photo if you want, although black wheels never come across well in pictures.

Would love a decent photo if you have one, but really trying to see one of each in the flesh, as nothing comes close.

Thanks for the other opinions, but the colour of the wheels is not up for debate, I prefer them in black, matches the matt bumpers and spoiler struts, never got on with platinum.

I don't see that happening, I think all the GT cars will stay NA.

What are people using their cars for?

Sunday drive, track days, daily drive?

Mine is a pure toy, but currently struggling to use it! It's suck a weapon on the road I feel like I'm going to get arrested biggrin I will never track it either as I have 2 race cars, so it feels a bit wasted atm. And I'm too prescious to park it anywhere for going to the shops! Love it though - even for just going into the garage for a look smile
