After Oulton and Spa (and 3900 miles) I was expecting to see a lot of rear pad wear. But there doesn't seem to be any evidence of that. Wear is in line with a '6 GT3 showing more front pad wear than rear. This is on steals, for reference.
I was honestly expecting all the torque vectoring/E-diff effect to produce more rear wear.
David, I'm in south Manchester/Cheshire. I'll be at Donny on the 6th so will be interesting to see how the setups compare on track.
We were surprised to see at Oulton that when we pyro'd the rears that we were hotter on the inside. I know you're not a fan of the OEM settings on road, but they seem pretty for a "road" setup on track.
Only issue I've had is in the cold, on the Cup2's, getting heat in them.
The rears are BIG tyres I have seen the USA guys go way over -2 at the back, I only went -1.8 and the outer edge is stone cold on the road at the back. I may have to real it back a bit for my intended use. But it still feels far far nicer on the road ATM, but rear inner wear might be an issue ! As there is no UK data I had to take a punt, and while every one was saying go -2 at the back inc my geo shop, I told them to only go -1.8. I think rear temps are a harder to do though as under the engine it kicks out a massive Ammount of heat which goes straight into the inner of the rear tyre. Not sure if that affect temps for a pyro or not ! I was honestly expecting all the torque vectoring/E-diff effect to produce more rear wear.

My car might be nasty at the limit, it's now hard to tell on the road, before the limit was massive understeer on the road, now my cars pretty solid, but on track it might be horrid. The set ups prob a tad to aggressive for the road for sure.
It's fustrating the geo thing and track day think vs good road set up. Plus time and costs to re tweek it and track day it.
I would know in 20 minutes on track what tweaks I would do, but I have hung around track days trying to get on for the last hour with no luck, a few years back it was not an issue now if it's nice loads of people just turn up and try and get on last minute. For a fast road set up I would say go -2 up front and -1.6 at the back with rear bar stiff.
My car if I used it as a daily would kill the Inners I think.

I'm being really lazy, can someone confirm that the 'sports' button adds the auto-blip (only), and the exhaust button adds additional noise (only). Does one of them do both, or are they activated together, or...
Sports button also does something (additional rad?) to the cooling setup. Push it and watch your engine temp drop.It does bring in the extra radiator, but pressing on does the same once the revs go above around 5000 ....
I guess for track work if the extra cooling starts a little earlier, that might be an advantage.
Regarding auto-blipping --- the car is very crisp and sometimes better than my heel and toeing --- I generally find myself feeling the car blip a bit faster than I was and using this as an indicator to sharpen me up. Not the worst learning process
Pressing on towards the limits in normal setting certainly gets me into the "feel" before firming up the PASM and pressing more ... and finding more pace.
Interestingly, on the feel stakes I do find the Pilot Super Sports noticeably more fealsome than the Cup2's --- by which I mean that one can feel more flex in the tyre wall of the PSS's --- and it's a big help in the wet.

Thanks, at least it confirms that you can have the noise without needing the sports button activated cooling the engine further at times when maybe you don't need it, such as when just setting off etc.
The cooling system is very intelligent. I have the workshop manual section for the cooling system. It obviously doesn't bring in the extra rad when the engine is hot. ALL the cooling systems (oil and water) are geared to getting the engine to optimum temps in the fastest time possible. This helps with both emissions and to protect the engine as much as possible. boxsey said:
The track day at Donington has now gone up in price (Javelin have that scheme where the price goes up as it fills up) so anyone still thinking of joining us should sign up soon. We're currently 6 x GT4 and 2 x Cayman R.
Boxsey, what car do you now have? I didn't know if you had sold the 964.Cheers

The 964 has gone to a good home and has been replaced with a Cayman R. Although very different they have a lot of similarities. Suffice to say I'm delighted with the Cayman R and see it staying with me for a long time like the 964 did (nine years).
Nice and great choice the CR id say. manual with buckets im assuming? Mustangs said:

There's quite a few ex-964 owners that are now either in a GT4 or a CR. There are some that even still have their 964 and have added a GT4 or a CR! Mine has the buckets but it was always going to be a PDK as that suits my use for the car more than a manual would.boxsey said:

Yeah at times Pdk makes perfect sense . Quite blown away with my GT4 at mo.So I'm guessing there wasn't much price difference between the 964 and the CR?
You had a boxster ?
