Porsche911R still posting constant drivel I see.
Shame I am sure you are a lovely guy but for the love of god, every time I pop on the board to see how others are enjoying theirs I have to wade through pages of drivel from you trying to prove your point over and over again.
Ah , that old chestnut - I have a solution, try adopting a really simple strategy : before I read a post , I check who its from and it's from one person on here (who will remain nameless) I simply , genuinely never look at it- it really works , stops me wasting time , stops me getting frustrated and it doesn't take away from being able to follow the thread - works very nicely , give it a try.Shame I am sure you are a lovely guy but for the love of god, every time I pop on the board to see how others are enjoying theirs I have to wade through pages of drivel from you trying to prove your point over and over again.
I'm not saying this person doesn't sometimes have value to add , its just the risk of irritation is too great , so I just skip them
David, you are right, there is too much bullst on this thread, and therefore per RSVP911 below, I'll be ignoring it by not replying to your drivel. Stop pretending to be a motoring god, you are not, everyone has different expectations of their cars, and just because I'm still running mine in, doesn't make my opinion of the car any less valid. I prefer what I've experienced of the GT4 so far over that of the Cayman R, that is my view, get over yourself.

Has anyone else had issues with stones trapping between the brake caliper and the inner part of the wheel?
I have terrible rotational scratches from stones that have trapped in the little gap. It has happened a few times and the sound is horrific not to mention the mess it has made of the finish.

What are people doing for insurance? I should be picking mine up tomorrow. Classic line and Manning seem to provide quotes. Admiral can't find the GT4 on the system (!) and NFU only give list in the event of a total loss.
Any others worth trying?
Admiral for some reason have the GT4 listed down under Cayanne! Immediately put me off. NFU wouldn't insure my car without a tracker. In the end I actually went with a mainstream insurer I've used before, I was able to select a 'market' value of £70-£90k which I was comfortable with. I sit firmly in the camp of not paying more for insurance from a specialist just because they make promises up front, but in reality are all associated with the same major players.Any others worth trying?

So because I'm still bedding in the engine, it means I can't suggest that the car is amazing?!?! Compared with the Cayman R before, the GT4 is on another level completely, makes the Cayman R nothing more than a parts bin special and I absolutely loved that car. In any case, had no issue with windows open driving.
I have to agree with you. Whilst running mine in I could tell that I was in a quality product and the difference with a 718 S I had as a loan car was night and day.As for the "3 Major flaws" alluded by he who shall not be named. As far as I'm concerned it has plenty enough power (and I came from a 580hp GTR) for the road, the gearing is absolutely fine for having fun on A roads and to my mind even better on the track, and I struggle with the concept that the damping is anything other than superb! they way it maintains composure on very high speed A roads is a wonderful thing. Oh and quite happy to drive mile after mile with the windows down, even well into 4th.
All of the above based on MY 3000 mile experience with the car as it rolled of the line.
Sure, the motorsport dept may have changed things, but that's not down to the road car being fundamentally flawed, it's because road cars by their nature are a compromise, where as a race car is not. If you want a race car, buy a race car.

I went with NFU, who said they would replace the car like for like in the event of a total loss, they also didn't require a tracker when I went with them so strange that mdianuk's experience was that they asked for one?Any others worth trying?

Yes - me as well (front left). I'm also aware of a Turbo S that has suffered the same issues. I think it's something worth mentioning to Porsche as it does not appear to be an isolated occurrence.
I wonder if this is a function of there not being much of a gap between the caliper and the wheel (disks to big!). Having PCCBs as well I'm a bit paranoid about getting stones in the calipers and destroying a disk!Elvorfin said:

The only way to resolve the issue is to fit a larger wheel or fit smaller brakes.
I spoke to parts to see the cost of replacing the alloys out of interest and it's the best part of £1,500 a front corner. To put it into perspective, an HRE milled aluminium wheel is about £150 more!

I also thought it was strange, but they confirmed it in writing too. Maybe different regional brokers use different insurers and as such the offerings vary, no idea, struck them off the list as soon as they said a tracker was required.mdianuk said:

I'm with nfu,not sure they know what they are doing though.I recommended them to my dad as he's buying an S8 and they refused him on the grounds they won't cover his post code...except he has the same post code as me ?Very odd.
