The state of the paint from Porsche factory is shocking. I had a GT4 delivered 2 months ago and it took 2 days to detail and polish to an acceptable condition. Once finished it was stunning. Sadly I have sold it, as the deal was done months ago when I thought I may have another one, the second order fell through after being promised by the dealer, that (Quote) "You gave us the first letter of intent and deposit, you will definitely get a car)!!!, which I planned to keep my 996 GT3 company.
I am now looking at a couple of GT4s with delivery mileage, for a company purchase. The paint condition on both of them is shocking (dark Blue) already has inclusions and contamination on the paint, holograms in bright sunlight, even some light scratches !!!. Silver which is much harder to spot the defect's, but I assure you they are there.
This is from 2 car's which list at around £85K and are selling for a premium.
I did make a premium on mine, but paid for a full detail prior to sale.
Why did you buy one and sell it thinking you had another on the way...isn't that blatant flipping?I am now looking at a couple of GT4s with delivery mileage, for a company purchase. Rampant greed!
All this paint condition crap really annoys me. Its not a bloody ornament, its a car for thrashing around the country side and on track!
What makes me laugh are some of the detailers that are making 'loads a money' is that you have to shine a really bright light on the paintwork in most cases to see any surface scratches.
Maybe I'm just a driver and not a detailer but man times have changed!
Now expecting a wrath of crap from people who polish as against use the bloody things )

You're gunna love me then Currently investigating options; I will have it detailed, because I like it to start out the best it can, but I'm mentally training myself not to be too precious of it beyond that. What makes me laugh are some of the detailers that are making 'loads a money' is that you have to shine a really bright light on the paintwork in most cases to see any surface scratches.

Lets not forget however that you have your car PPF'd, which is proven to hide defects anyway, and is just another way of protecting your car from damage just like quite a few aspects of the detailing is for; isn't all about shine

Got the car last week, haven't quite got enough miles to make a decent judgement of it though! I'm at Knockhill on the 7/5 : Anglesey on the 21/5 : Spa at the start of August : plus ??

Have 1 more trackday with the 12c this friday at the ring then the gt4 takes over as the track car for a while. Will be at one of the BaT donnington days for sure and some Silverstone Goldtrack ones. Will pop you an email when i get my dates sorted.
From your experience guys, when did you feel you had an accurate idea when your car would actually arrive? At the moment I'm being told mid June, but I'm trying to arrange detailing etc, which is impossible when the date is nothing more than an estimate. Is there a point when it becomes clearer, i.e. when the car is being built, or when it arrives at the UK dock etc? Anyway of tracking it aside from hassling the dealer?
