My GT silver CS came off the production line today. Pick it up in Stuttgart in exactly 1 month. Feels like an eternity to go despite the considerable wait up to this point...

Now starting the naus of getting insurance etc. Trying Locktons first. Anybody else got a decent GT4 insurer recommendation?
There s good thread on insurance if you join the GT4 Facebook page

It depends very much on your personal situation , points etc as to who will be best so you'll need to chop about. Also try Aviva distinct as they're happy with a cat 6 tracker so only 250 quid

Thanks, I'm on the Peter Moy GT4 FB page, but it seems to mostly be North American owners. Is there an UK specific one?

Yes. It's just "Cayman GT4" without the Porsche in front.

We use Classic Line as well. Trackdays included, no tracker required, and agreed value.

First and foremost, airbag has to be turned off with rear facing seats only. Common sense why and that is the reason the safety labels all show a rear facing seat.
Oh that's interesting, thank you, I completely forgot that deactivation of the airbag was entirely for rear facing; my son (2) is front facing now, and currently uses a Recaro Young Hero seat...maybe too wide, I don't know, but I'll certainly try it when the car arrives.

If anyone knows the internal width of the 918 style seat, let me know. Would also need a way of it preventing marking or dents in the seat.

Thanks all, Classic Line and Mannjngs are way out front at the moment. Locktons is expensive and Aviva aren't even on the planet. Looks like it will be Mannings or Classic Line once the cover comparison is made.

i ended up going with Porsche themselves, agreed value with trackdays, low excess - did need a tracker.

My mrs with no prior experience driving a semi powerful car and having had an accident in the last 3 years which was her fault brought it down by 250 quid... :S

My GT3 is with Mannings. Have had to make a claim. Excellent service! Unlimited trackdays included.
GT4 with Classic Line. Been very good so far. Not needed to claim. No tracker a bonus. But limited "free" trackdays (6?).
Can't go wrong with either.

Thanks. I understand Classic Lines don't limit the track days with Porsche Owners club, but limit other ATDO events to 6/ year, which may be sufficient. Glad to hear Mannings have been good to deal with.

Henderson Taylor are very good for GT3 insurance with unlimited trackdays. Not had to claim but good pricing.

I went with NFU in the end 250 quid cheaper than Manning and didn't require a tracker. No trackday cover though, so I'll be doing that independently if required, but the money saved on the premium and no tracker subscription will cover that if required..

Good luck with finding track cover for £250, you might get 2 days but I doubt it. But if you're not intending to track it fair enough but in that case why buy a Clubsport?

Plus the 400 quid for a tracker!

I will be tracking it but not every other weekend. I went clubsport because i didn't want to waste money on pointless out of date Satnav, and well I just wanted it.

CS race car to ditch PASM and have some real dampers fitted along with some carbon parts to save the 70kg over weightness of it.

BE interesting to see what the full kit has and if it will goto 420bhp.

Didn't the Carerra S have a Sport Pack option that took it up to about 420 bhp. If so, what did it consist of and could it be retro fitted to the GT4?

no that's a hugh load of parts called the x51 kit and about £12k
Kit consists of
• Cylinder heads with flow-optimized intake and exhaust ports
• Intake Manifold & Throttle Body - Increases inlet size from 76 mm to 82 mm
• X51 Headers - larger cross-section and optimized flow behavior
• Carbon Fiber Airbox with two intake channels
• Modified maps for the DME control unit
• Sport Exhaust with Chrome Tips & Dash Switch - (Optional)
• Third Radiator Kit (for manual transmission cars)
• Increased Engine Speed

what the GT4 needed from the off though to make it feel GT over a bogo detuned engine ;-(

it would have given the GT4 that high end GT zing though which is sadly very lacking stock

So that's what the X71 kit is - often wondered. As you say though, shame it wasn't fitted to the GT4.

Fair enough on the clubsport instead of out of date Satnav. Still think you will struggle to get insurance for track days at less than £200 each.
