I would be surprised if they do launch the car along with the 911 R at Geneva as surely they will want all the focus on the R...
A manual would be a very popular option and be quiet interesting if they can get a suitable unit in rather than the 7 speed. But if my memory serves me correctly, didn't AP say that the PDK was the option which made the most sense on the GT3 to deal with performance and the track focus of optimum lap times?

Surely they'll just use the 6-speed manual they've produced for the 'R' (given the 7-speed isn't that highly regarded)?A manual would be a very popular option and be quiet interesting if they can get a suitable unit in rather than the 7 speed. Agree launch at a later date .... and no manual as it is essentially a track car and although a air cooled man myself progress does not go backwards ... the R is different as it is appealing to a "retro " feel and not optimal performance .....
But who knows ,
My Porsche 911 R is a six speed H pattern .........if long straights just change the final ratio..

Only info we will have for now will be off VIP customers who attended. I had a slither of hope something would of been announced... but not surprised really. As said in a previous post the other day - I still think we are at least 2 years off the next GT3. It doesn't make sense to reveal a new GT3 yet.. at a time when 991.1 RS's are still being delivered. I think the excitement is that it now sounds VERY likely the 991.2 GT3 will happen, and probably with the engine from the current GT3R race car. Manual I think will happen on the GT3 but not on the RS.

there was never going to be a GT3 at the motor show so soon.where would a new standard GT3 fit in atm ? when the RS has just come out and we are at the limits of this engine BHp wise, you cannot give a new GT3 RS beating performance , so where would that leave a Gen 2 991 GT3 ? seems no room for it.

All sounds positive, I have my name down for one (GT3, not RS) but could do with it coming later, so I can at least enjoy the GT4 for a year or two. Makes you question where the R sits in this, slightly less weight from removing the radio and air-con and no huge rear wing that makes the car. Still, want one anyway!
