Already are, on the huge thread herehttp://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
Apologies for reverting to the very beginning of the tread that, as per usual. has "distorted" itself more than once since. Unless someone else posted this, kindly note that there will NOT be a 991GT3RS Gen 2 in production. Porsche will maintain the usual +/- 3 year cycle between the variants or new models. The next RS will come out in all likelihood as a member of the totally new (MY19) 911 range where ALL models (including GT) all have non-aspirated engines. Whether just turbocharged or, perhaps, hybrid (most likely as that is what Porsche is racing already and whatever they race will be in the RS, if not all in the GT3). What IS, however (at present) remotely possible is that there will be another "nonsense" ridiculously Limited Edition RS (along the lines of the 997 RS 4.0) just before the production of the current 991 range comes to it's end.
There is simply no time to do much else as: a) the production of the Gen 2 GT3 launched in Geneva has to commence in May (no manual gearbox in the first 2 months of build, hence not in the configurators at present) and will stretch, as before into Q1 and possibly Q2 of 2018, b) the new GT2RS will be launched either the the Frankfurt show in September (scheduled) or at worst the LA Auto Show in November with production commencing in Spring 2018 (small run so no big distraction, but an effort in parallel with the new GT3 being built nevertheless), c) with all other Porsche facelifts and new models outside the 911GT area (there still may be a 718 Cayman GT4 and Boxster Spyder after the GTS variants come out this year), there is already a lot to do for Porsche till mid 2018 by which time we will be quite close to the launch of the next 911 generation...
All the above are 95% confirmed information from the Stuttgart Mothership and the remaining 5% is left for any internal adjustments of timescales and other changes that the Management Board may resort to for any reason they choose or may be forced to in the meantime,
I shall leave the arena now to all the usual suspects who know more or all...
