Congratulations on your allocation. Did you happen to see how big the options list was ? It sounds as if PCCB etc is standard ?
Only got a bare contract to sign in order to get things rolling. Did not see any options list yet. Colour choices white or GT silver, stripes red or green is what is confirmed as well as the optional single mass flywheel and 918 seets in brown wiht houndstooth cloth inserts. PCCB is standard. Can't wait to learn more

press release http://press.porsche.com/news/release.php?id=976
I am happy to be on the design team :-) to help improve these cars :-) when every one else is happy with the bullst we get given in the past !"exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission featuring short, performance oriented gear ratios."
just need one of those in the Gt4 with the X51 power option now before that engine is no more.

Have you been allocated one? ....... i'm guessing your username means yes!
with 30 odd UK cars no chance of me getting one over the bigger players at my OPC.It's a crazy market. If you had been allocated one its like winning the lotto! I reckon these will be selling for nigh-on double when they reach the market.......unless the 991.2 GT3 comes with a manual....then all bets are off!

Looks lovely but I'm a bit disappointed about the weight. It's what, 50kg lighter than a GT3? 20 or so of that is ditching the PDK, so they've actually shaved 30kg in reality. If Richie200 on here creating his 996R can take 200kg+ out of his 996.1 C2 and still have it everyday useable with 4 seats, I'm not quite sure what Porsche were doing
I kinda agree on that - hoped for more weight loss (not that it really matters as I can't get one / afford one anyway). Am thinking I also need to create my own lightweight car (still wonder how light a 355 could be made at reasonable cost) or buy sth really old that is already light ...Porsche911R said:

718 Cayman GT4 with a 4.0L and that gearbox is almost a given as the big, expensive, limited 981 sendoff special. Will be a nice one."exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission featuring short, performance oriented gear ratios."

I thought you had got one, don't know why.

the OPC choose who to write a cheque too, it's not about selling a car now days. It's a crazy market. If you had been allocated one its like winning the lotto! 991 cars does seem like pretty high production numbers, surely if they wanted to make it a truly special car, 250 would be better. Yes I know this would leave a lot of 918 customers very upset, but Porsche told some very good customers to choose between the 4.0RS or the GT2 RS when they were launched. The R just doesn't seem that special to me.

They will build 911 examples. 250 would have meant a lot of disgruntled 918 "VIP" customers.
911 examples means every 918 owner who bought from Porsche and still has the car (as per VIP program) will get one.

Wow, you are hard to please! Were there not 32 UK 997 RS 4 litre cars? - so with 991 of these R's being made I would expect a few more allocations. How many left (not always bang on) state there are about 40 918 spyders and 15 or so 918 spyder Weissach's. I did hear someone on another forum say that Porsche would offer an R to anyone who bought a 918 through an OPC and still has it first. Maybe few 918 owners on here can clarify that. I remember when a friend of mine picked up his 991 RS and was told by the dealer principle that a few 918 customers had picked up the phone to him and said 'what's an RS?' so maybe a 911 of whatever type is not their sort of thing so maybe a few other good customers of the OPC could have a good shot. Well done to anyone that has secured one looks a great car just hope I get to see one being driven!!

Wow, you are hard to please! If not for it's highly limited edition status, would anyone be getting into such a tizzy over the car?
It's at the end of the day still a bloody great big thing even if smaller than the RS being on the c4s/gt3 shell, has rear wheel steering/pasm suspension so isn't exactly analogue, hardly saves 50kg over the GT3 RS so not really truly lightweight and less than a manual 991 C2S and still has gearing long enough to do 200+mph.
Now I'm sure the vehicle dynamics guys at Porsche as usual will have done their trick of making the car a bloody good car to drive but it slightly beggars belief the amount of hype over a car with some admittedly nifty parts added.
It's a car Porsche should have made as a regular production car and then it'd be really interesting to see how many people are still clamouring for one.

I really wish I hadn't just watched that!!!!!The want is off the chart.......
Dear Porsche,
Please will you accept my GT4, my first born child and the content of my bank account for an allocation of the 991R.....
It does hopefully open the development door for the next gen GT3 to have similar kit..... Maybe they will do a track orientated version and a road orientated version.... Here's hoping anyway......
