Possibly a stone caught in the caliper.

Agreed looks like a stone caught in caliper. A few people i know with the RS on ceramics (same setup) have had the same thing happen.

P.S Chris, replied to your email, hope it was the right address.

You have no reason to keep a faster car behind you for 3 corners unless you are particularly trying to be difficult which possibly isn't a surprise either. It really is not difficult to signal to allow a faster car to pass even outside of a straight and you should be keeping an eye on your mirrors anyway.

To add to what Steve said, the worst drivers on trackdays are those driving beyond their capabilities but pretty close behind are those with an entitlement complex like you have shown per your post. Numbers of cars and driving standards are the things that matter on trackdays not types of machinery.
Track day driving is about overtaking by consent only and is a fun day. break the rules and st happens. I can see here already people seem to go gun ho, 2" off the car in front to bully over the car, no wanting to wait 3 bends ! FFS why I stopped doing them as I said.

you quote "with an entitlement complex like you have shown per your post." sucks monkey balls !!!

3 corners is nothing if there are no straights inbetween, I have followed cars for 2 laps FFS !! that is anoying

If you get annoyed at 3 corners with no straight bits in it, let's take donnington as an example out of craner if some one is on it no one should be over taking till the small straight between macleand and coppice 5 CORNERS later. cars have to cut accross the track there is no where to over take. it's lethal to even try it.

if you did it to me I would report you and you would be sent home !! it's quite simple track day rules to follow !!

yes a very slow car can indicate and let some one by in between or when on cool down laps, but don't expect a car which is on it to let you by till the next straight.
YOU clearly have no Track clue reading your post :-p (see what I did there !! and again why I stopped doing track days because of idiots !

If you get mad after 3 corners and want to get past goto test days or stay at home.

With respect, 3 corners with no straights in between is called a complex. No reasonable driver would expect another driver to move off line whilst comitting to a complex - although often they do. If however there is a straight section between them a competant driver should move off line and let a faster car through. There are no excuise for holding anyone up.

Come on chaps don't ruin what has been a good discussion. We all know the score with track days. Any poor behaviour on track is always down to an individual and not a particular category of driver or car. hippy

More to do with those attending than the actual cars or organisers , Ive had some good budget days and some poor expensive days , thats the trouble with trackdays, very mixed abilities and the faster the car the worse that it effects you, my previous track car was a 300bhp 2.3 duratec Caterham and it was pretty much impossible to get in a clear lap as closing speeds were mental.

quick video below of prob Worst trackday In 15 years I have ever attended , was a load of chavs with very little track respect and then I came up behind this car , no idea what this guy was trying to prove but he clearly hadn't attended the briefing . In fairness he did get black flagged on the next lap but for me too late , I had backed off and came in.

A Good point well made Old Chap..

Let's get back to those lovely GT4s. I've seen a fair few on the track now and almost all have been driven with some gusto. It reminds me of the 996GT3 scene when so many were tracked regularly by true enthusiasts. This could well be the spiritual successor. They certainly seem to attract a similar type of driver. Interesting set up information on here. No real extreme stuff as yet. Is like to know how they handle run stiffer with more camber.

The American chaps seem to like tinkering. What are they up to???

Here's hoping

I was at the PEC today in my 997 GTS....there was a GT4 on the track too. Made a blinkin lovely noise and was really whipping around. Massive want! Have to say I was very, very impressed with it...there was a Cayman GTS on track too which sounded much better than I thought it would.

Once is an accident, twice is too much to be so. I would be hopping over to Leeds with a very quizzical expression asking for their thoughts. You never know, you might get a new set of discs....

They actually said that because all the discs have marks, it must be extraneous debris. Even if those shown (which are very similar) are by far the most serious.

But we've compared the under trays of a number of cars and there's nothing special about the contents of mine.

In fact, mine haven't been removed to take a proper look ?

The car is sitting close to Knockhill as I type with 4000 miles on the clock --- 2000 of them running in --- and accepting now 500 miles of gentle to fast track work --- ???

My CR with PCCB's did 34000 miles and still no scoring, just delaminating which I sorted at my cost without question.

It was Oulton that appears to have "done the damage" --- I do hope that they have swept Knockhill overnight ...

It will be a story worth telling I'm sure smile

Chris, what is the plan with the discs? Continue to use them as-are? Is there any detrimental effect in using them in that condition?

At Donny a decent driver will let a faster car through either prior to, or just after the old hairpin following Craners. Also possible to overtake on the run down to Craners after Redgate. You don't NEED a straight to let faster cars through.

Yep. often drivers let you through in corners. If he or she has seen a much faster car approaching - which everybody should do - they often pop off line and signal right. Always a quick left right indicate 'thank you' should ensue if the Passing Chap or Chapette has equal track manners. You learn to read the car ahead. It's a little saddening how many clearly have no idea that a car is behind them at all.

Indeed frightening. But not not quite so frustrating as the nutter turbo brigade... Full boost on the straights and crawl round the corners. GT-R and GT2 drivers seem to be the worst offenders in this class...

Or 'red mist'/ego plays apart.

What i want to know though is, are certain members cars now run in or are they going to revving the tits off of their cars without it

And some posters are just a gift that keeps on giving
