Was a great few laps, what I did notice was I looked far to much in my mirrors and then that caused me to miss a few apex's it really unsettle me lol I think I def need to do more track time to not be as nervous.
That's only my 5th in 3 years., I need to get Craner sorted also I have a mental block and keep my speed down though there to about 90 where Chris was 106 !
The pressure was too much hence I pulled over in the end :-) my mate drives a BMW v8 and they are a dead heat in a drag race right the way upto the BMW limiter vs the GT4 a real 2 cars in one, nice daily and then when on it a load of fun, bar the mpg lol I had one for 2 months and I just got fed up with the small tank and high petrol costs as I do a load of miles.
The GT4 is , would you believe it worse again on petrol which makes my mate laugh now :-(

I was shocked you were always in my mirrors so nicely driven ;-)

I saw 107 and 108 turning into the left at Craners on a couple of occasions. Feels pretty fast to me and can't say I felt completely happy doing it (slowed down later in the day as didn't want to end the day with an off).

For reference Mike said he was seeing 125mph into Craners in his GT3...... But then he is a mentalist and did come off later in the day...

Straight line the GT4 is very similar speed as my 996 GT3...will dyno test soon...but imv both running close to 400bhp (996 has already been dyno tested at 400bhp)
If its of any interest, my stock GT4 is on the dyno tomorrow morning (Dyno Dynamics)

RS Tuning in Leeds - used them a few times, normally read a bit lower than most (optimistic) Rolling roads.

we had 7 red flags at Donnington before midday !!!

Was a joke !
It was more the 'ive got 500bhp so im not getting out of your way' syndrome that really was very poor. With a lot of cars carrying that kind of power and a myriad of safety net systems, it's only going to get worse.

Any of you guys tracking the GT4 with a GoPro and CS package - does the GoPro handlebar/seat post mount fit round the diagonal roll cage bar?

Thanks

it is fast, hence you need balls not out right skill to get the times as most people who were there could drive to a high standard.
I hate the left down craner, I have had a car spin in front of me more than once !, you see many cars spin off, there is always one bend gives me the wobble, at Spa my mental block bend was Stavelot !!!

this always happens at Craner and normally in front of me !!!!

So I just don't take any risks and I hate to be behind some one though there.
Why risk it on a track day is my thoughts.

https://youtu.be/ON3SWlm9ei0

In fact I was behind Ravon (Tim) later in the day and he has a massive wobble moment down there also !!
Just as I was thinking maybe I'll push a bit lol, so that put a stop to that :-)

Afraid that was me asking the car to do too much ! I just gently damped the steering inputs and quelled the speed, all caused by talking to my passenger and missing the turn in point . Object lesson : don't talk and drive quickly when you are an old codger .

I was running 2.2 bar front and 2.3 rear hot.

Talking of tyre pressures, can anyone suggest how to turn off the tpm warnings? the car keeps on telling me my rear tyres are underfilled by 0.3 whether on track or off when i repumped them up and it's damnably annoying....
I've not found a way yet ... but so long as the tyres don't drop too far in pressure you can re-select circuitous route as long as you are stationary. If moving in the pit lane --- it's too late !

Jack, you are quick smile

I'd like to see 125 into Craners in a GT3 from the passenger seat .... in terms of Kinetic Energy the Gt3 would need a third more grip and power for a similar mass, to make this achievable. Ignoring the fact that I've played with Mike on the GP circuit in my 993RS and watched him throw it off at the Melbourne loops ...

No disrespect.Please show me smile

Remembering always that this is for fun !

what tyres was the Gt3 on ?

pretty sure in my race car( not a Porsche) but an 850kg tintop I go into the left hander at 115 and thats on sticky 1b tyres , I dont have the power to reach 125 down the craners but if I could I wouldn't make it round at that speed.

To be fair, I assume that was the same Mike ...

Can you imagine what that extra speed would take off a lap time ?? Is a 1:05 possible in any GT3 ?

Jesus Chris! You're brave! Not sure I'd want to see it from the passenger seat! smile

Just going off what Mike was saying on the day. I know he has come off there before at 117mph with Marcus in the car with him.

I'm pretty sure we could get close to that (112-115mph maybe). I know I'm nowhere near flat chat from Redgate through Hollywood as the thought of getting to Craners flat out scares the pants off me. Mike doesn't seem to have the same level of imagination as I do....

Anyway, you've volunteered to sit in with him next time, so we'll see what the deal is then smile

And absolutely only for fun! I get huge amounts of joy out or ribbing Mike about the various parts of his GT3 he left scattered around Donington on Monday smilesmilesmile

I use Surrey Rolling Road down south - I believe the same apparatus. Charlie also has traces from all my previous visits so useful to spare across cars/models

Slight change of topic, but an interesting observation from Silverstone on Thursday, on two occasions I came out onto the Hanger Straight behind a nicely driven Cayman GTS PDK, the GT4 simply doesn't have the performance to out drag the super fast gear changing GTS .

Tim, see my post above re: Golf R with DSG and my GTS. That gearshift makes a big difference in a drag race.

Hence it completely makes sense the clubsport is pdk only.

I think it would have been a difficult choice for me if the pdk option was available

Lightened M3 on slicks? It's rather impolite when people hold you up like that!
