Nicely done!Good 1:22 clear lap in the middle there.
Chris, that was Mike that came past the M3 near the end of the vid. Clearly quite a bit quicker.
Looking forward to that PAX?

Lightened M3 on slicks? It's rather impolite when people hold you up like that!ChrisW. said:
Jack, you are quick
I'd like to see 125 into Craners in a GT3 from the passenger seat .... in terms of Kinetic Energy the Gt3 would need a third more grip and power for a similar mass, to make this achievable. Ignoring the fact that I've played with Mike on the GP circuit in my 993RS and watched him throw it off at the Melbourne loops ...
No disrespect.Please show me
Remembering always that this is for fun !

Donington is one of the few UK tracks I have actually driven on. I saw 219.2 kph top speed on my data at the exit of Craners on a 1:10:58 lap with the short configuration. That was in a stock 3.6 997 Cup on Michelins. Converted over to old money thats about 136 mph.
To get that I had to be flat all the way from the exit of turn 1 until braking for turn 4 (old hairpin). It never felt comfortable to do this and I needed a patient exit from turn 1 too.
Anything above 1:11:00 felt less stressful. Data trace shows why I guess. Maintenance throttle round turn 3 (craners). For a 1:11:11 lap the data says I was holding ~210 kph round turn 3. Max speed shown was 210.7 kph which is about 131 mph.
Data for both laps below. I guess Mikes 125 mph could be possible. I was about 1.6G sustained round turn 3 according to these.

I'm sure Mike told me he was at 116mph gps about 111mph into the left at cranes, still way quicker than me, he had turned up the cambers on the car before setting off to that TD (Porsche day). I did try and follow his lead but ended up needing new shorts and rear tyres by the time I got to the old hair pin backwards. These day I tap the brakes and stick to 100-105 gps not as scary and just as much fun. Here's a clip of the 997.1 from a couple of years back 121.3 the only clean lap of the day early on while still setting tyres and suspension up. If you think it was a bad morning I suggest you try it when the fun cup cars are using it as a test day, nightmare.

Great to see and I guess that makes us all - right
And yes, I'm still up for a passenger ride --- I'm still on a learning curve and trust good drivers not to bin it !!
(If invited and happily on an exchange basis !!)

I hope you have a large supply of brave pills to PAX with Mike, he does have a certain style and confidence which results in a few nervous passengers with a grey complexion getting out of his GT3.Great to see and I guess that makes us all - right

First track day in the GT4 yesterday over at Croft……the car is just epic! Although it was a supercar only day, and the junior GT4 not being the fastest on the straights, it could pretty much drive around anything there over a full lap. Truly a sensational car.
I eventually settled on 32/25 hot tyre pressures and trying a few different options, seemed to be the best compromise with balance. Still running standard geo and arb settings (med-med). I really don’t see the need to change this right now, the car only really understeered a tad when going ham fisted into a corner and attempting the apex. I also seem to have the opposite to some others on here with wear, and found myself cooking the rears and not the fronts (Dunlops) – I had to drop the pressures a lot on the rear to compensate for this.
All in all a good day, I’ll have to tag along to the next GT4 track day gathering.

Enjoyed that. It shows the alternative view of you and David (yellow GT4) that I had previously posted (as filmed from my car). Gassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
