Any PH'ers specced a mahogany Porsche?

I've put downpayment on a 718 Cayman S with a build date of November, and am playing around almost daily with the configurator.

I keep coming back to mahogany. It's unusual, and I'm liking it more and more the more pictures of mahogany Porsches I clap my eyes on ...

And then with that espresso interior ... cloud9

I remember one of the UK launch cars for the 997 was mahogany, it looked great in the flesh!

Now you'll get lots of posts about resale values.....

I think it's pretty awful! These things are very subjective.

If you dont mind 1/3 or 1/5 people thinking 'That is bloody gross', then go for it.

There's a Mahogany Cayenne near me. I'm not convinced it's a great colour. I know that the Cayenne is a big, slab-sided beast but where black works, the brown just ... doesn't.

I think it might be one of those colours that looks great when clean and in bright sunshine or under showroom down-lighters but it might not be great in our weather/daylight conditions.

I think it's a beautiful colour in the sunshine (note the pics above). However I reckon in overcast Blighty it will look a little depressing when the sun ain't shining.

I had an Alfa 156, silver teledial alloys, tan Momo leather, and a paint colour that was essentially black, but with the merest tinge of brown to it. It looked great, and the tinge of brown really softened the black and gave it some class. However, that Porsche colour is just way too brown for my liking. At some point, you're going to see one in a nice colour and go...

"Bugger"

Or you'll be detailing it on your driveway one Sunday, and someone is going to drop the inevitable "polishing a turd" joke...

Mmmm brown eh - from the country that gave us the Polo Harlequin and baseball seat stitching (option on the TT), not to mention that other delightful colour that Mercs used to offer, hearing aid beige.

It's a bit 'marmite' - literally wink

But I'm a bit of a fan of bold colour options, and although it won't appeal to everyone, it could work very well, and will stand out from the crowd.

I would not evaluate any colour based on a photoshoot. Go and see one in the flesh, on a typical day in the UK.

I'm not against brown though; Land Rover did a really nice brown with a fleck for the (now old model) Discovery.

It does but I think a lo of that has to do with it being a GT3, is that lowered too?

I think mahogany a lovely colour. I currently have a similar shade (smoked topaz) on my BMW and the wife's mini (Iced Chocolate). I have boring white on my Spyder !! Take care on chosing the upholstery to go with it though especially be wary of the light colours on the dashboard as they can give terrible reflections in the windscreen.

I like it. But I do like unusual colours...

I have an Amethyst 987 Cayman, which looks a bit like the second picture of the 981, when the sun isn't shining.
