Exactly - the one thing that I missed going from a Boxster S to a 996 C2.. (well it's not summer, so there may be something else I miss in time..)

The new intake pipe & helmholtz resonator removal make a significant difference - I haven't fitted the filter yet.

I have a Cargraphic exhaust on my 996, would the Helmholtz removal still be worthwhile? Is it 'too' loud, the exhaust is just on the right side of shouty for me, I like to keep a low(ish) profile!

Hard to tell - this is induction noise rather than exhaust noise though. Only really noticeable at WOT in my car. The Helmholtz removal is easy and reversible, so you won't lose much by trying it

Your car would certainly look good with some side logos.
Well I'm not sure if this is what you quite had in mind but here goes.
Perhaps something a little more controversial, having given this much thought and considered all the options one could imagine, I've done something a bit crazy. Bear with me, there is at least some reason behind this. I always intended on producing a wolf in sheep's clothing but in the final hour, I've come up with this. Now I've stuck as best I can to original Porsche heritage and historically significant styles with this build. Well here is my inspiration for this latest idea:




So this is how she now rolls:






I did consider a complete colour change, Gulf Blue, Gelb Grun... but this has all been done before so decided to try something a little different. Wont be to everyone's taste I'm sure, but it is certainly not something you see everyday or may want to for that matter :grin: I mean come on; this fried egged beast has a hard enough time without me going all Joseph's technicoloured dream coat on it's @ss

Wheels and Titanium bolts also now fitted:

Any comments on the Cup2s? My cars under wraps for the winter and will need a set of tyres all round when she comes back out, 996 C2 52, so was thinking Cup2s all around as it's a second car for sunny days!

Cup2s give you a lot of extra grip. If your car is a fair weather car only then it will be fine. Bear in mind the tyre costs more but you get say 30% less tread depth. You'd have to question yourself whether you will use the extra available grip on the road. If you like the car pliable and 'adjustable' you're better off on a proper road tyre.

The plan now it's become a second car to do a few track trips, hence the idea to have Cup2s, plus anything is better then retro PS2s!

That's fair enough then. If you're planning on driving at the limit of the Cup2s then think about how fresh your suspension is next.

Full new M030 kit plus bits and pieces extra from Precision within the last year/5000 miles...! So, ride is... firm.

If he has 285 30 18 rears then there are not many options. 265 35 18 opens up a lot more.

yeah am curious about how time & cost intensive this will be. I spoke to Ferrari at some point about putting bucket seats and harnesses plus a Momo in a 355 and they said no TÜV if not OEM/approved for the car. I guess you have to do a Einzel-/Sonderabnahme or whatever it is called for each part?
^ Exactly this, I have it all in hand though so it should all go through without too much trouble (fingers crossed). Just a very expensive process to go through.

There's a chap called 'marseille' on boxa.net who has started out with a 2.5 Boxster, through a few iterations to a 3.4. He has also shed a lot of weight and done some very similar mods albeit on a different budget with off the shelf products or home-fab'd stuff. Might be useful to compare notes.

Really like this car and thread - among the (very) few interesting topics nowadays

Did you get the carbon parts made or did you buy them in from somebody? Am curious as still dreaming about at some point replacing heavy bumpers etc on a 355 or 550 with carbon - but would need somebody who produces those for a reasonable cost....

I like the orange bumpers but am thinking maybe extend across the doors at same height with maybe a black line to separate from the silver
