991 GT3RS Gen2
Discussion
Well, pretty sure there is one coming. Lot's of whispers going around. So, how would we like it to differ from the current car? Let's have some suggestions as without doubt Porsche read these forums. There is no doubting that McLaren and AMG are in RS territory. I'll start
No Turbo, 4.2 engine. If possible 550 BHP, more torque. Lighter, with more use of CF.
How about more deletions being available ie carpets, no sound system at all. Even less sound insulation.
Wheel options whereby you have the standard wheel or an upgrade to some super lightweight option.
Exhaust option, maybe Akrapovic even if it arrives in a box and then fitted by the dealer. (BMW offer this)
Flared wheel arches to wrap around 345 section rear tyres. Could the GT3 body be utilised with the flared arches? Less weight again
Lithium battery as original fit.
Fully manual seat option.
Reduction in the roof height.
Livery options with PTS available straight off.
Before the 992 generation appears this could be 991 RS swan song! Lighter, more power, very hard core. Totally outrageous as only Porsche know how.
If it could lose 100Kgms gain 50BHP ; Wow! we would have a monster on our hands.

Didn't Preuninger say of the 991 range that the GT models would recieve facelifts and nothing more?
I wouldn't get too excited; I think it will just get a more Gen 2 influenced design, PCM and an update on the four-wheel steer and other electronics following a couple of years of testing and development.
From a pricing point of view, they are in a class of their own. Why would they need to make an effort when they could make zero changes and still sell the allocation easily?
The cynic in me expects them to make an incredibly talented, supercar slaying GT2, paving the way for a justified turbocharged future for all 911s.

In fairness, those were the words that came out of Preuninger's mouth. The GT models have to be fastest. He was so pleased to offer us enthusiasts the 911R because it did not have to set the best lap time.
Yep, agreed! I saw the 911R at Goodwood at the weekend, looks really nice...very understated but purposeful.
