Does anyone have any further business insides? Since yesterday this information circulates across the industry.

I doubt there is any truth in such a rumour.

The engine and electronics contract with Daimler-Benz is crucial to the future of AML.
D-B also now have a 5% ownership of AML. This is obviously not for money making reasons, but probably to confirm co-operation between the two companies.

If that deal failed, the DB11 would be without electrics.

It seems to be that only the engine deal is cancelled.

wow know nothing about this, but that is pretty major if so

Electronics being unaffected is obviously important and actually, I can see why there are potential issues with the AMG situation - will AMG seriously give their best (most powerful) versions to a manufacturer competing in a similar segment (AMG GT vs Vantage replacement), but if not, how do Aston get away with the Aston price premium for a car that is so easy to directly compare with mercedes if the engine is not as powerful as AMG's

It's different to say the pagani situation where they aren't competing

THere is also of course the concern about whether buyers will be comfortable with, lets face it, whatever the factory say, what's likely to be an off the shelf AMG engine (with only minor revisions), in an Aston

But you would have thought that is all long since ironed out, so is there a new problem ?

It's incredibly late in the day if so - hard to imagine there will have been a plan B

600 bhp for the base model.
Now you are talking.

The top model can then have Dr. Palmer's 1000 bhp DBX electric motors. - smile

I overheard a bloke queuing up for a March burger at Goodwood talking to his mate about 2 AMG deals. One was Aston, the other...well....all in good time...

...I think it's safe to say that the Aston deal is safe.

Comments that our V8 programme with AMG is changing are simply not true. Any programmes using the V8 engine are moving forward exactly as planned.

Kevin, based on the 'our' comment assume you are part of the Aston Martin group (Product Communications Manager ??)

Welcome aboard.

Yes, I have been an Aston Martin employee since 2003 and I am currently Communications Manager.

What's the Comms statement relating more specificically to the title? The title suggests that whilst plodding Merc based engines might filter through, AMG is, well, AMG and not part of the Merc / Aston tie in??

Seems to me that the Mercedes relationship still works (electronic stuff) but the engine deal is broken so far. Heard this from an AMG engineer. There's maybe be a last chance to heal. But do not have any further details... everyone I know does have sealed lips.
