Tempted by a Kia Soul...am I mad!?
Discussion
Hi all,
For some reason I am getting very tempted by Kia Soul's, is there something wrong with me?
I like the way they look, they aren't huge but are very roomy/practical for their size and should be fairly comfortable. I know it won't be the fastest thing in the world (looking at the 1.6 petrol, 130hp n/a) but the majority of my driving is commuting 50 miles a day on the A1, mainly in traffic (average speed ends up being around 30mph usually). Plus I have an MGB in the garage for the weekends, when I finally get it back on the road (even though it'll still be slower).
Current car is a Swift Sport which has been fun but after getting stone chips over the whole car about a month after buying it new and having to have it resprayed the love has never been truly there.
Going through the usual brokerage sites (Car Wow, Broadspeed etc...) the best price I have found is £13,393 if I take finance, £2107 off list. This is for a 1.6 petrol 'Urban' (the one with the gloss black arches and trim on the bumpers). Going to try and book a test dive at the local dealer for the weekend.
Am I mad or am I just getting older and more sensible!? MGB and a Kia, I sound like an old man in retirement, I won't mention my desires to own a bungalow...

The in-laws had one when we all went on a trip to Sweden last year. I was impressed with the level of equipment front and rear and especially the rear legroom. The boot was pretty small and the father-in-law reported the car to be gutless, but I suspect that is because he is accustomed to driving a diesel with a 1500 RPM power band.
My wife has one, a 65plate connect plus - diesel with auto, it replaced a Nissan Cube.
It's a lovely thing to drive, the gearbox keeps it in the torque so feels brisker than it is (recently drove a diesel manual and it was nothing / shove / nothing).
13k on the clock so far, no rattles or concerns. Infinity stereo sounds decent, is spacious and comfy on long journeys (have driven it 180miles a couple of times), and we have three teenage daughters - the rear seat is mainly flat so well proportioned for 3x rear passengers.
Driven with vigour, feels like there is some passive rear steer, reminds me of an old french hot hatch. Not "sporty" but nicely damped and "fluent" through corners.
It's our 2nd Kia (we had a Picanto for 3x years from new) and nothing gives me any concern - the multimedia satnav has a few glitches, but they are working on a firmware update.

My folks have one. It seems ok, good value, they like driving it, they like the local dealer and the 7 year warranty means it's cheap to run.
It borked a gearbox at 2 years / 20k miles, but sorted under warranty so didn't phase them.
It picks up some chips easily due to the bluff nose and thin paint. But I dare say the paint is of the same thickness / standard to most other normal cars on the road.

I had a new shape one as a hire car this time last year. I did about 1000 miles in a week visiting people all over the country so drove a real mix of journeys including some long ones. I thought it was a great little car and my only issue is that the boot is very small compared to a traditional hatchback.
