Spark Plugs - Vantage - Change 7th service?
Discussion
Hi,
I have been told that the 7th service requires change of the spark plugs.
The car has done 35,000 miles. Half the amount suggested of the 70,000miles / 7th Service.
I have seen conflicting views here on whether to do the spark plugs or not...so am sparking up debate again!
I would be grateful for your thoughts.
Thanks,
R

Hi Ross. My v12v is due it's 7th service this year and when I phoned my AM dealer was told that the factory have dropped the time Or mileage criteria for spark plug change.... To just mileage only. On the stipulation that there's no mechanical issues, such as a misfire.
So the service cost that I budgeted for has now reduced by £600-700!
Of course, you can still opt for the change anyway if you have concerns.

As the car will have Platinum plugs, they are fine for at least 50,000 miles and replacing due to age is pointless. They are assuming a nominal 10k miles per year, so they should have 70k miles by now.
As they have not, then unless you really want to waste money, then dont bother.
The only really age related maintenance will be the brake fluid and coolant which have a limited "shelf" life.

If you want to do it as preventative maintenance and to have a 'perfect' maintenance log, go for it. But the plugs last a whole lot longer than 16k miles and, so long as the car is driven on a somewhat regular basis, there's no reason for them to need to be changed with so few miles on them. That's assuming everything is okay with your car, engine, etc.
