Porsche Reading offer a superb service using XPel Ultimate. No issues with Porsche's bodywork warranty either, and it is all invoiced on their letterhead. And we know how picky Porsche GB can be with their products!

If you have a P-car, I see little reason to not use them if it is an option for you. It says quite a lot when Porsche HQ will fit and support with their assurance. They fitted to my car as part of the PDI prep and the fit/finish is superb - perhaps the best I've had amongst several cars I've had PPF fitted to over the years.

OK, sound interesting. Will they 'prepare' the paint as part of the process. IE stage one level polish to make sure it is perfect ahead of applying the film? I assume they can fit on behalf of other dealers other than Reading?

In April I was told by Porsche Mayfair that Reading will not do paint correction, but hopefully that will change!

Spoke with them and they have a few standard kits available at similar prices to other fitters. But they only clay bar and clean the paint ahead of fitting rather than machine polish.

Haha I'm pretty sure that's my car! Didn't realise it was being used for modelling PPF smile

I haven't had the film (or the car) long but am v happy with both so far. Almost impossible to tell the film is there and peace of mind and ease of cleaning are tremendous. I'd also recommend Max Protect for doing it. Janis there is a real enthusiast and pro, and I'm taking my 911 up to him for an Xpel Stealth matte film in a couple of weeks. Looks like there'll be photos!
I have just had mine done but a little disappointed in the front PU as it has joints i wasnt expecting. The installer assures me thats how the kit comes but i dont remember seeing that o a car i spotted at silverstone this weekend. As you have had yours done can you tell me if there are joints where the bottom lip meets the outside main vertical slab of the bumper on each side, mine are about 2mm gapped so i just want to confirm Im not being spun a yarn.

Jonathan, if your car is white, whether you machine polish the paint or not before covering it in film will make absolutely no difference. As long as the paint is free of any obvious defects and is clean, the film will provide you the end finish, not the paint.

also worth mentioning that the film when applied does throw the wrapped panel off shade , white and silver seems to be the worst.

I have my gt4 booked in to get done after first having new car paint correction detail undertaken.

As others have said there is not the need as such to go to this level of prep on a car before applying however, most will note that the quality of paint coming out of Porsche at the moment is not brilliant in terms of finishing marks, swirls, holograms etc. Therefore the reason for doing this is to improve the reflection base as the films sometimes can present these faults more.

With regards to Porsche them selves doing the work I very much doubt this is the case, most have an association with a fitter who will come and do the work. I know for certain one large group use Topaz in London to do all of theirs.

This does appear to be a Porsche in-house job. It is definitely not Topaz in any event.

Hi. I'm a long time viewer of this part of the forum but never having owned a Porsche before I've not posted. That changes in two weeks time when I pick up my new 991 Carrera 2S. Can't wait!

I'm getting the car front end wrapped with Xpel. I was talking to the dealer about wrapping (I'd got a few quotes) and he mentioned that Porsche offered this as a service. They did used to use Topaz (this OPC Guildford) but Porsche have their own team that do this full time now. The dealer says that he's had lots of cars done by Porsche including 918's. Porsche were 10-15% more expensive that the other fitters but I reckon that getting it done predelivery is worth the extra money and hassle to take it to someone else.

Topaz did full cover on my GT4 after Porsche said they wouldn't do any paint correction before applying the film.

It doesn't have any splits or joins on the front bumper

Interesting - Topaz also wrapped my Spyder with the same front PU as the GT4, and it definitely does have joins.
In comparison, Porsche wrapped my GT4, and it does not have joins.

There are 2 key things that I like about the option with Porsche:
1) assurance that the service/product does not affect your Porsche warranty
2) they do a really good job, as good as 3rd party options, and at a very competitive price point

100% recommend having the Xpel Ulitmate Self Healing PPF. I had mine fitted at paintshield who did an amazing job.

I've never had the PPF fitted to any of my cars before but i would now every time!

Mine has the front bumper, side skirts, wing mirrors and lower rear bumper done.

If you look at the xpel US website the kit shows the front kit as having the two joints for the spyder an GT4. Not sure why the GT4 has no splits but I think sometimes a kit isnt used and more of a fitted solution so maybe thats it.

Topaz use their own template/pattern in areas where they think the XPEL template could be improved upon.

I think I've ended up with more rolled edges rather than visible ones.

Had mine done @ exclusivecarcare and it's brilliant (not cheap mine you).

Can't see the film unless you really really look for it.

This is picture heavy but shows all the work done

Any horror stories with the film damaging paint when removing the film down the line? I've a new Lotus coming, bit concerned that the film might take all the paint with it when removed in years to come what with it being a Lotus. Wrong marque I know but any info would be greatly received smile
