Cayenne 4.8 V8 Petrol vs V8 Diesel

I'm looking at the GenI petrol model (2013) as it seems quite a bit ££ less than the diesel V8 (most likely down to mpg). Does anyone have experience of owning one? Is the mpg figure accurate? ..looks like 25mpg vs 35mpg for the Diesel V8

Are there any other things to look out for or comparisons worth noting?

I get about 25 out of my V8 diesel. I suspect the petrol would struggle to make 20.

Surely on such a late model depreciation is the biggest cost. I bet on a milage of 5000-8000 a year they cost the same over 2-4 years given the higher cost of buying the diesel model. In a car that big and heavy I don't want to wait for turbos to spool up every time I pull away from a junction

If you can afford to run a 2013 Cayenne, you can afford the petrol.

Thanks for the info.. I'm having second thoughts on the older model now as I didn't realise the genII 3.0 V6 diesel had a new engine.. in power terms, it sits between the genI V6 (which I found too sluggish) and the acceptably powerful V8 4.2

The genII V6 and genI V8 are similar in price too, so it makes sense to try a test drive on the newer car..

Thanks for the reminder on the London Ultra Emission Zone, I'd forgotten about that. I doubt I'll have the car until 2020 but it'll make diesel resales in central London area rather tricky in the coming couple of years.
