I am thinking of buying a nicely specified 991 GT3 tomorrow, clubsport, buckets, leather dash, cruise, axle lift, nav, heated seats.

I have secure parking at the office and its a 30 mile round trip I'd probably make 3 times a week, the 991 is clearly much better than my old 996.2 GT3 for refinement but I was wondering how others found the 991 GT3 for similar use.

Thanks
Fred

I don't use mine as a daily but when I do use it is very easy going and no issue at all, even on a long journey.

I used mine 2/3 times per week no issues . Only reason I wouldn't take it is if I couldn't be bothered to move another car to get it out ! It'll be fine , it's what auto,s were built for :-) . Axle lift is a good call if daily driver .

I used mine for 18 months as a dd (9,500 miles) no issues at all other than the cup 2's in cold wet conditions need treating with great care IMHO. I always drove it in manual in those conditions as an inadvertent kick-down can have you driving back home for new pants! wink

Perfectly capable as a daily. I e done 4000 miles in 2 months in mine. Including some commuting and some 9 hour drives. Lovely can to do it in

Not sure I could put up with the 'clapped out' sound of the engine etc when going slowly in a line of traffic, I drove one a few weeks ago and it sounded like the big-end had gone and the shunting noise of the transmission was something else!

No odd sounds once the pedal is pressed though. smile

Yes I did notice that, I have a highly modified Evo that makes some similar noises.

I don't use my 991 GT3 as a daily driver, but it certainly would perform the task perfectly well!

OP, did you buy the car?
If you're still thinking about it, yes the GT3 copes with the daily stuff really well, I don't need to drive everyday, but my GT3 gets used as an everyday car when it's out and about, although I've not yet needed to use it for a run to the local tip smile It never sounded "clapped" out, but the mechanical roughness does get better after a few thousand miles, just coming up for 10k now and it's just getting sweeter.
Never any real problems with the tyres, but had a couple rear slides in the wet (I do mean like monsoon wet) when easing the power on pulling away at junctions, so will move to a less track orientated tyre when they are due for a change, which isn't that far off. Currently running on Michelin.
On longer runs the car is extremely comfortable, have driven mine to Le Mans and did a European tour last year taking in France, Switzerland, Italy, Germany and Belgium, over 14 days, about 2500 miles. This year taking it up to Scotland. Cabin can be a bit noisy, engine and road noise, but the road noise is no worse than the Tesla that transported me from Amsterdam to Rotterdam a couple of weeks ago smile
If you buy, you definitely will not be disappointed

Yes, picking it up Saturday morning.

Thanks for the write up. I did use my 996 GT3 from time to time like this, but that was sometimes a bit too much. The GTS is perfect for road use really.

Ha, the very car that put me off 911's years ago. My neighbour had the Rubystone car used in the tests. Far too stiff for the Fen roads but I wasn't really experienced enough to appreciate the dynamics of the car back then.
