Chances of getting a 991.2 GT3?
Discussion
Unlike previous generations of GT3, I'm not convinced Porsche will make this car a limited run, or even limit the initial capacity, so should be fine to order one. However, a LOI is certainly worth it, even if most agree it carries little weight anymore. Also, try popping into your local dealer, build up a relationship with the salesperson and explaining that the car would return there for servicing, resale etc; ultimately OPC's where possible want to do business with locals who will offer more potential repeat business and allow them to profit from servicing etc. Good luck.

Thanks. Yeah he has a house in the Cairngorns that he intends to keep the GT3 at, so will probably go up there to order as he lives in Chelsea most of the time which is going to be a popular dealer. Aberdeen might be a good one given the way the oil industry is tanking up there.
I'm sure he'll be made welcome in Aberdeen for a coffee and a chat, although I doubt they're struggling for any future GT car orders despite the oil downturn. I'd probably call and ask to speak to Paul Kelly first to arrange a visit. Beefmeister said:
Morning all,
Family member wants to buy a manual 991.2 GT3, not previous Pork ownership though, he's been Aston through and through for years.
What's the best chance of him getting one? Letter of intent with a less popular dealer?
He certainly won't regret the move if he manages to get a GT3, I know I didn't.Family member wants to buy a manual 991.2 GT3, not previous Pork ownership though, he's been Aston through and through for years.

That's good to know! He went DB9 -> V8V -> DBS -> V12V + Newer DB9, but has just bought a new Range Rover Autobiography to replace the DB9 and fancies a change for the fun car.So he wants the new GT3 and has a DB11 on order. Half life eh?

Ola Ian, where did this rumour that the next gen GT3 won't be a limited run come from? I can't see the GT guys being able to run out unlimited numbers with their capacity limitations. Would be fantastic if true however!apachesmith said:

Just my opinion, nothing official. All I'm saying saying is that I don't think Porsche will stamp the car as 'limited', nor do I reckon they will limit the initial batch as they have done previous, but instead work out the entire capacity of the factory and just sell them all straight away, reducing the initial panic and premiums paid.Beefmeister said:

You'd have little to no chance from Aberdeen. I know somebody who's family are worth a few hundred million and run business in Aberdeen. He went in recently and offered to buy 3/4 new cars in one order if they guarantee that they would give him a 991.2 GT3 or RS and was told that they would not be able to help him.v8ksn said:

Who does he buy his Astons from? Does the dealer have a Porsche dealer within the group? Go down that route if they do.
Great advice and a good idea! rkwm1 said:

Bugger. I've just heard a rumor from an OPC that the new GT3 and GT2 or any request for a new GT car for that matter needs to be made directly to Porsche GB - They will then do the vetting and if your successful will put you in touch with a local Porsche dealership! What the vetting is they didn't go into detail but I'm guessing your previous history with the brand etc. This is quite a change from the old system if its true, has anyone else heard about this?
