Lava don't look good on anything !!! not a nice colour at all imo.
I'm happy with it...looks spectacular..! I've saved some weight too, I only have 1 seat..! (By the way, in the context above, its doesn't not don't )

I agreed with Mr D regards Lava until i saw my first one in the metal today at Cardiff OPC a GT3RS,and i thought it looked....................FANTASTIC!!.The moral of the story is never prejudge a colour based on photos as some inexplicably don't photograph well.If i'm lucky enough to get a GT3 RS Lava now ties with UV as my most likely choice.

The moral of the story is probably not to take Mr D's trolling too seriously....

Lava does indeed look spectacular, but under indoor lighting, it doesn't do it any favours...I considered UV, but having seen a few in the flesh, I don't think it looks special enough. If I was ordering again, I'd still chose LO.

The Lava GT3 RS i saw today was under indoor lighting and still looked awesome esp with Lava seat inserts and rollcage with black wheels and PCCB;if indeed as you state it improves in daylight and apparently UV tends to look flat outside then Lava will be my preferred choice, i wish my GT4 was now Lava!

Leaving aside and colours and seating position, fascinating though all that is smile , and returning to the car.

Does anybody own one? I'd be interested in your experiences. Always wanted a turbo as a daily but never sure because people seem to respect them but not love them. Toyed with a gen 2 Turbo S but instead bought a gen 2 R8 V10 plus, which is equally ballistic but makes an awesome sound and feels very special place to sit. Perhaps not the last word in driver involvement though, and doesn't have rear seats, but great for a daily car.
Not yet.

I had a 991.1 turbo S for two years. Epically capable car and unlikely to be embarrassed too often on the road. Indeed it was no surprise that on last year’s 991 Euro trip adverse conditions in the Alps and on the Autobahn proved distinctly more trying for the GT cars.

Replacing the turbo S with a 991 GTS was a mistake, lovely car though the N/A GTS is. As a result of which I currently have a Gen 2 turbo S on order; the only dilemma is whether to spec the bucket seats for a car which will spend 90% of its time on the road.

I’m also fairly near the back of a long queue for a Gen 2 GT3. However, should I get an allocation something will have to go to make garage space. Not wishing to make the same mistake again it will probably be the 650S spider.

I've got buckets in a 991.2 TurboS and they're superb - comfortable imo even for long journeys and epic for pushing on. Even ok for two drivers of different shapes. ranging from short fat, long body, short legs; to 6'1 broad big guy. The driving position is not adjustable on the seat other than forward/backward - but the wheel adjustments seem to make up for it well.

Thanks for the comments lowndes.

Re the 918 buckets - I have them on 991RS, GT4 and Boxster Spyder. Great seats but they aren't easy to get in and out of without feeling like you are messing up the high sides. Would not personally have them on a daily use car. But they are great supportive seats.

OldBob and AndrewD many thanks for the encouraging comments with regard to bucket seats.

I too have found Porsche bucket seats to be surprisingly comfortable across a range of models including 964RS, 997 GT2 and 968CS. I currently have the lightweight carbon bucket seats in a 997.2 GT3 ClubSport and find them perfectly OK for everything from a track day to an Alpine Euro trip.

Not only do they provide excellent support but it seems to me you sit slightly lower in the car which I like. The downside corollary is that Mrs L finds them slightly too low.

The turbo S will by no means be a daily driver and I have now mastered the arcane challenges of getting into either the GT3 or 650S without undue scuffing of upholstery, so wear and tear shouldn’t present too much of a problem. Osteopath also well pleased with the additional income from my more frequent visits.

An ideal configuration would be bucket seat for driver’s side and 18 way Sports plus for passenger but so far I haven’t been able to find that option on the configurator.
