718 Positive Vibes Thread...
Discussion
I had one for a day while my 911 was being serviced. It wasn't an S but I thought it was a very nice car and enjoyed it. We also have a 20k mile 986S and it was nice to compare the two.
The engine note at idle was "different" but other than that it left a very positive impression.

Can I just say to get it over with ......nasp,power delivery, nasp, lag, nasp, noise, nasp and not forgetting nasp.
Now that's over with - I've now done 1400 miles in my S and I have to say its great. The engine is different but has its own character and the car is certainly fast. The interior seems well put together and the tech is very good.
I've no complaints re lag and the noise with PSE is entertaining as far as I'm concerned.

I had a day in the 718 S at the Porsche Experience Centre in Silverstone yesterday.
I was very impressed. The power delivery caused no issues when pressing on. Power was available instantly whenever required. Although it does take a while to get going from a standstill. I thought the sound was quite nice. In fact being a little quieter was actually helpful when pressing on and concentrating hard.
I can't deny jumping back in my 981 S with PSE at the end of the day was an aural treat but the sound of the 718 wouldn't deter me from buying one.
Interior fit and finished seemed to have been improved and the Burmister stereo was awesome when I tested it in between sessions.

Still debating PSE on an S (Cayman), Views of those who own either?
FWIW the 718 Boxster (non) S I drove didn't have PSE but was as loud as I would want. PSE exhausts are smaller - and therefore presumably louder - even when PSE is OFF. This may or may not be an issue to you. I had a passenger ride in a new 718 Boxster (non S) yesterday.
Agree with edo, it sounded very loud even without the PSE. I wasn't a particular fan of the noise, but my word it felt rapid.
I've driven a 987 generation Boxster S quite extensively but this felt like it'd moved the next step up from that in terms of performance.
I'm sold can't wait to get my desposit down for a 718 Cayman come September!

I agree with that...loud enough without any fiddling around.I was very impressed with the 2.0 4T (or how ever we're meant to write these things).....
It's funny, because when I joined PH back in 2006 I'd just bought my first Porsche...a gen 1 987 2.7 Boxster.
All I had back then were a small minority of keyboard warriors dominating these pages with the same stuff about how it wasn't a real Porsche and it was a 'hairdressers' car etc.
Now that very same car is viewed as a drive for purists with true analog controls and the best engine.
I then bought a 987.2 Cayman 2.9......ooooh what an ugly car....
Then a 981 2.7 Cayman.......rubbish steering and brake peddle feel......
There seems to be a pattern forming. Glad I take no notice of some of the rubbish talked about on these pages....I'd never buy any Porsche!!!
Will see how my business is at the end of the year ....if I feel things are pretty much ok, I will be ordering a 718 Cayman 2.0 F4T (!) in Carmine Red.....
